Yeah, this album rules. I loved The Act, and I love this

Okay. Prada is definitely not a band I expected to get better with age but here we are.

Dead Throne was good, but sounded like more of the same old for better or worse. 8:18 was solid too but I like the sound they seemed to start developing on Transit Blues personally.

About to dive into the Act.

The Act is a doozy. Not consistent but absolutely ambitious.

I think if you like this then ‘Transit Blues’ and ‘The Act’ are its closest comparisons and arguably lay the foundation of that sound. Their ‘Space’ EP I think was also the earliest iteration of that so I’d refer to refer to them as third and latest phase of the band. In my opinion the best too.

‘Dear Love…’, ‘Plagues’, and ‘With Roots…’ mark the first era of late 2000s metalcore with gradual progression, with ‘Zombie’ ending that and capping that era off.

‘Dead Throne’ and ‘8:18’ kind of act as the bridge in between where they were trying to find their footing between those early albums and the newer sound.

In short, work your way backwards.

Dead Throne > Act > Color Decay(still growing with it) > Roots > Other Stuff.

Honestly I never listened much to 8:18, Transit Blues, or Space EP..... Zombie 1 is higher on the list. Zombie 2 haven't listened too much either.

Listened to Color Decay twice today and it hit the spot. I love: Hallucinate, Sacrifice(maybe my fav Prada song), Noise, Watchtower, Salt. Other stuff is great just growing on me.

I loved Dear Love, Plagues and With Roots back in the day, but I remember for whatever reason when the Zombie EP dropped it just didn't catch my attention, so that's where I sort of stopped with TDWP.

Just finished the Act. Definitely love what I just heard.

    u wut m8?

Prada has done the sound change to perfection whereas I feel their mid-2000/2010's contemporaies (BMTH, Architects, Parkway Drive, WCAR) all are hit or miss. Some of BMTH's non-metalcore stuff is great and some is unlistenable. Parkway Drive and Architects have completely lost me at this point. Prada just seems to write solid songs that still sound genuine without needing to be heavy whereas the most recent Architects or Parkway stuff sounds completlely phony. I wasn't a huge fan of Underoath's Erase Me for that reason but Voyeurist feels more like a natural progression from LITSOS.

Aside from the singles, which are all fantastic, the stand out songs are Trapped, Hallucinate, and Cancer.

This is for sure their most melodic album and it’s a great move after ZII.

This is definitely my favorite album by them. I’m blown away.

  11. Yeah this is excellent and really varied, I feel like there's something for everyone here. I don't think this is on par with Transit Blues, but I'm having a more immediate reaction compared to The Act. They're on a roll.

I like this but I'm still disappointed by the clean vocals. I wish they were more varied and dynamic, that would really push this to the next level for me. I feel like too many of the songs stick to the same formula and just have bland choruses where he's doing a very similar thing in every song. Mike is great throughout though and is constantly doing different things which is great.

ok I say that and get to the closer where there's a bit more lift in the cleans haha. Just wish he did more of that across the album!

I also really like when they layer them both on top of each other, that always works well.

We reach for the longest shadow

The clean vocals are pretty one note but they’re ear worms so I’m cool with it. I do wish there was one more banger on the back half, if Hallucinate wasn’t there it would end on 3 ballads. One more song like Watchtower would’ve gone a long way IMO, but I guess we have ZII for more of that.

Yeah layering clean/screams on top of each other is a trope I will fall for 100% of the time, worked to perfection here.

The heavy riff in Hallucinate sounds so familiar. Another metal/core band has done one similar and I cannot place where I’ve heard it before. It’s in another song as like a outro riff or the outro part coming off a breakdown or bridge or something. The tone and tuning is very similar, but it doesn’t exactly riff the same. My description is terrible.

it’s not a band like Deicide, or Iron Maiden, or Carcass. Not that heavy or classic metal like. So def maybe a metalcore band.

I’ve got find that other song

So based on Zach’s interview with Mike, it sounds like another concept ep is happening but definitely not Zombie 3 anytime soon. Any guesses on what? If not Space 2

I'm loving this. I enjoyed The Act enough but this is even better, lot more vocal styles and more singing

Hallucinate/Cancer are an incredible 1-2 punch to close this out. Maybe my two favorite tracks on here.

  21. The chugging riff with the ominous synth playing on top? It reminds me of the part at 2:46 in the song below.

But I doubt that's it. I also thought it sounded really familiar.

That does sound similar but not it(I've never really listened to MMF, but the few newer songs they play on Sirius Octane are pretty fun). The part in Hallucinate is really the breakdown I am talking about. IDK why I wasn't more specific.

I'll run up on the song I'm thinking about at some point.

(I just checked TDWP Vengeance and heck it's possible it might be the breakdown/ending to that song. 2:30 til end. NOt 100% sold that's what I was thinking of though....)

I really enjoyed this and it’s a nice next step from The Act. The band has always been solid and I’m probably going to do a discography run. It will be interesting to see where it falls.

One of the few Solid State acts I still listen to anymore.

Goodness. Trapped is so good. That chorus is really striking and speaks to me on so many levels right now. Very simple, but powerful.

On first listen I like the album but not as much as The Act, Transit Blues and the like. I'll have to give it some more time.
