there are some bad racial/gender dynamics which I think is kinda inevitable in a show about prostitution

Maggie and James are both really good though and ultimately I like it, I just don't want to know how white men think pimps talk necessarily haha

also Zoe Kazan looks so young next to Franco that it caught me off guard for a second

Only just got around to the pilot but I liked it. The characters are interesting so far, the dialogue is generally good, feels like a David Simon show which is obviously a great thing.

Good to see it renewed so quickly too. I'll probably get around to the second episode tonight.

 

The attention to detail is so good in this. Like it’s nice to see this show keeping itself faithful to the time period with little stuff while many current shows and films fail to do that.

 

I can't be the only one watching this and loving it, right?

 

I really like where the show is going.

 

I have it all DVR'd but for whatever reason, cannot bring myself to watch it yet.

 

I'm just so afraid it's going to be another BW Empire. I loved ssn 1 of that show and it went all downhill after ssn 2. I almost would rather not watch and not get caught up in it just to be let down haha

 

It's a good point...Especially in today's era when you can binge watch an entire season of something in 2-3 days. It'd be nice to know how the entire series holds up before diving into something and investing so much time.

 

I'm 1 1/2 episodes in and really enjoying it so far. Pilot was a bit underwhelming for a new David Simon show but the second episode is really starting to make sense.
