I actually got a bit of a Jim Hosking (Greasy Strangler/Beverly Luff Linn) vibe from it

I loved Swiss Army Man.

 

I usually don't watch trailers for stuff I already know I want to see, but after this post, I'm too curious not to.

Still need to watch Beverly Luff Linn though. What is wrong with me?

glad to hear that. I tried starting it once or twice and then got distracted for whatever reason. Gonna make a point to watch it in the next week. The Greasy Strangler unironically remains one of my all time favorite films.

this is getting released VOD on october 8th? damn I wanted to see this in theaters, weird to me they did a wide release for swiss army man and not this lol

Watched this last night. I advise to try and avoid reading about it as much as you can.

but it totally ruled, its like redneck buttrock fargo, played completely straight. Both hilarious and touching, and honest with its characters in a way that's pretty unheard of. VERY different from Swiss Army Man. get weird!

I loved this. But yeah, it's... uh, out there.

 

I really liked it until the reveal and now I don’t know what to think? I feel like there were shades of Solondz in what went down but it feels weird empathizing with a couple of seemingly well meaning buffoons for the first half of the movie to discover they’re perverts that abuse animals?

I loved it. I didn't expect that but I love how straight it's played the entire time.
