Saw the band play their first show since the pandemic last night. They played two new songs from their new album Antimai, don't think they mentioned any titles yet. Both sounded quite proggy, along the lines of The Indigo Child, with Casey's funk influences really shining through - one of the songs had a slap bass solo. They said the first single drops in the next few days, and it looks like the teasing has begun.
The Dear Hunter Setlist at Oslo, London Setlist here is calling the new songs Ring 5 and Ring 7, with 7 the one they said was the single. So I guess there's a theme to the titles.
so excited for this! based on some past teasers, it's looking like this album is going to be 8 songs long, but there are some long songs on there, i think over 50 minutes total runtime. can't wait for the single, the live videos for it have been great!
Yeah both songs they played live felt long, very jammy towards the end. First new one they did must have been 8+ minutes.
Based on their statement in February when they rescheduled their tour to July/August, I don't expect a long rollout. They talked about the album release bridging the gap until the tour began.
Tracklist: 1. Ring 8 - Poverty 2. Ring 7 - Industry 3. Ring 6 - LoTown 4. Ring 5 - Middle Class 5. Ring 4 - Patrol 6. Ring 3 - Luxury 7. Ring 2 - Nature 8. Ring 1 - Tower preorder here: caveandcanarygoods.com I think the rings correlate to the rings inside the triangle of the album art.
i love this song so much and can't stop listening to it, so funky and proggy, and that crunchy guitar riff that comes it on the left channel at about 1:59... they didn't have to do that for us, but they did :') and that bass solo with the harmonics!!! really digging this direction, moments of it almost remind me of the mars volta, it's very experimental and interesting while still sounding very much like the dear hunter! so pumped for the album.
