The Dear Hunter will release Sunya on March 20th.

The Dear Hunter are excited to announce the Friday, March 20 release of Sunya, the longstanding American progressive rock band’s brand new studio album (pre-save, pre-add and pre-order HERE). Moving further into the world they began shaping on 2022’s Antimai, Sunya finds the band leaning into synth textures and tightly wound grooves, pulling from jazz and funk as much as progressive rock. The scope is still ambitious, but the lens has shifted.

Where Antimai spoke from the collective voice of a city, Sunya is personal. The songs follow a single perspective stepping beyond the walls for the first time, confronting both the physical wasteland left behind and the quieter realization that meaning might not come from any higher power at all. It’s The Dear Hunter expanding their palette while turning inward, letting rhythm carry the story as much as spectacle ever did.

"’Sunya’ is our most ambitious effort to date,” the band said. “There are a lot of funky, jazz-fusion type influences that show up in these songs. But, the record still feels like The Dear Hunter. Lyrically, we explore a lot of dystopian themes, while adding a bunch of synthy layers. It's a bit of a contrast but it makes for some good music." Are they done with the Acts series? I thought there was going to be an Act 6 but it’s been years.

I think Act 6 ended up being the friends we made along the way?

Don't know that much about Casey, but I'm pretty sure it's common knowledge that Coheed are 3/5 albums deep into finishing the story.

IIRC Casey has said Act 6 would be some type of movie/visual medium thing, not another album.
