I've seen a trailer for it at every movie I've gone to in the past month. The trailer is really bad though so I can't blame people for not showing up.
Man I am so bummed by this. I knew it was gonna blow. But I thought just maybe they would have done something cool with the "new" cycle. Gah
I feel like the right way To go with this would've been to do a small, 30-40 million dollar gunslinger movie (if that) and just expand the audience. Or tv. Tv was the obvious choice. Now it's all fucked.
Honestly....I almost wanted to turn this off 1 minute into it Edit: this isn't because it was so unbearably bad, but because I couldn't believe what they were doing with the book. So, I dunno how a non-reader will feel
Keep in mind, my brain automatically goes to the books so take everything I say with a grain of salt, but the focus of this thing is all wrong. The first scene reveals some things that were such great mysteries to unravel in the novels. It's like they didn't trust the source material to be captivating enough.
I feel like I HAVE to see it because I've been waiting for so long. And despite trying to bring optimism into this thread for months, I have expected this and yet it still makes me sad. This cast and this source material should've been a knockout.
Sad to see how this movie turned out, after years of waiting for an adaption of some sort. Almost everything I've read about the film seems like they completely missed the mark in every single way.
So since the movie is going to crash and burn, any chance the TV series goes on and is then reworked to replace the films going forward?
Stephen King Talks 'The Dark Tower', Casting Controversy, and Getting Blocked by Trump on Twitter Pretty good read
I feel like, especially if this bombs, there's a very good chance the tv series doesn't just do Wizard and Glass, but is reworked to do the entire series.
Why? Anyone can see this is a case of multiple visions clashing. The source material is gold. It's only a matter of time.
