The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance (August 30, 2019) TV Show

looks so good!

 

It looks absolutely insane. I just wish it was coming out in July or sooner. It would be nice to binge it while I’m on summer break.

I mean, just watching the trailer made it clear that they are doing some things cinematically that I’ve never seen before.

 

It's a pretty good movie, if you get past the CGI but I watched it recently and still really enjoyed it!

 

well the movie was just marvelous! creature movements and designs were absolutely astounding. if it wasn't for some moments of shoddy cgi (the silver bats(?), the backgrounds, etc.), this movie could have been released today and would be impressive. only issue I had were a bit of the rudimentary plot (person travels, bad guys fail, person travels to another place, new set of bad guys fail, end) and some shots lasted longer than necessary. But the longer shots were fine as I was so amazed and engrossed in the world. best moment was when Henson presented the forest and there was a 2 minute montage of the ecosystem - so cool

aughura was an absolute delight and I hope we get more of her in AoR

and on another note, did they make some full sized set designs for this?!? there are some times when its definitely a person in costume climbing (Jen) instead of the puppets

 

It's such a great movie that does use set design and puppeteering very well. The CGI is to be desired but it's still a fun movie. I watched the following videos when i asked the same question as you:

The quality is terrible but it's a good watch. Just in time for the series tomorrow!

EDIT: I should say it covers more than Dark Crystal.

 

rewatched the trailer for the dark crystal AoR and holy crap this is going to be absolutely fantastic isn't it

 

gonna have to rewatch the original since I haven't seen it in at least 25 years

 

This is absolutely gorgeous and rich.

 

I know this is a prequel but for anyone who has started and/or watched it -- should I watch the movie first? I've somehow never seen it.

Episode 1 was jaw-droppingly good. And no, you don’t need to watch the movie to get this.

 

I watched the movie for first time. While I can’t say it was thoroughly enjoyable I don’t hesitate to say it’s a masterpiece holy shit. Got me really excited to watch the series
