makes me wonder if it's a legal thing, if The Dangerous Summer and Dangerous Summer are legally different entities

 

But I don't believe their presence on social media has a different name. Just the re-pressings.

 

I don't think that would matter in the legal scenario, they aren't making profit from their social media pages.

 

We'll have to see what happens when the new record is announced as well as what they're on tour bills as.

What's weird is that they would have to change the name even though The Dangerous Summer released War Paint not Dangerous Summer. I understand if they were to omit "The" from the upcoming release though, but this seems odd

 

The Reach for the Sun reissue from December is also still labeled "The Dangerous Summer," so whatever it is, it's a new development.

 

I don't think it's a legal thing. "Dangerous Summer" and "The Dangerous Summer" are so close to each other that there would still be a (strong) likelihood of confusion. And for their social media profiles, even if they're not making a profit from their social media pages, those are still commercial uses as their purpose is largely (if not entirely) marketing/promoting the band and their music. (And, yes, I am a lawyer; this isn't my area of expertise, but I do have some experience with it. Also, this post does not constitute legal advice to Dangerous Summer/The Dangerous Summer or anyone else, it's just my own thoughts and opinion!)

Maybe they're just planning to drop the "The" for the new era of the band and are just moving slowly/awkwardly with the transition. Personally I like just "Dangerous Summer" better.

i forget if this was already posted/seen, but in a teaser they posted today (studio bts+what sounds like a Catholic Girls demo) song titles were seen. whether they're final titles is yet to be seen!

they played a philly show recently, first in like a year or two. carmen's one of the nicer band guys i've met, i'll ask him about it at the show
