Brian and Tyler not being in the band really put a damper on the excitement of the reunion.

Yeah, but they were major parts to RFTS and War Paint. Personally, I prefer that TDS over Golden Record-era.

w/ recording starting next week, I would imagine we should get some stuff before the end of the year. I've suffered through the 5-6 months lead time between ILIWYS being announced and released, so I guess I'm not that bothered with this being as far as way as it is considering they're only about to start recording.

At this point, I'd almost prefer they hold out until spring of next year. Seasonality is a very big thing with me & their music and a release in the dead of winter would seem out of place for them IMO

 

Which member of this band is the huge asshole? Is he still in the band?

excellent news. I've always been lukewarm on the band musically, but his inclusion always pushed me to not liking them. I'll give new music a chance though

 

Looking real quick at wikipedia, AJ is the only original member left? So it's kinda just his musical vehicle at this point?

Yeah, so it was the current trio plus Cody who played on Golden, right? But AJ is the only original left?

 

Stoked they're back together (well officially, as it's been obvious for a while). I'm still gutted I missed them live first time round, they even played the town I live in but at the time I was too broke to go. Anyways the best part of this news is that they're writing again. A reunion is always much better when the band in question are being creative.

YAY. I only ever got to see these supporting Lower Than Atlantis (yikes) in Southampton. Looking forward to new material. Hopefully we get a single before the dates. Coincidentally I'm in Pittsburgh on the date they're playing, but I probably shouldn't go. Damn.
