Fun story... I remember finding these guys on myspace before RFTS came out and Surfaced was on there. I messaged them saying how impressed I was with what I had just heard and couldn't wait to hear the album. IDK who responded back to me, but they were so grateful and ended up sending me the album to check out. I don't think it was Cody because he would've charged me $500 for it.
Way back in Early 2009 when they only had If You Could Only Keep Me Alive out and were touring I went to see them in Syracuse. Less than 20 people were there and I talked to them after and even offered them to stay at my apartment on couches for the night rather than in the van. They stayed and AJ, Bryan and Tyler were all super appreciative and sweet. I got them pizza and beer and we just hung out and they even played some songs acoustic in my living room (permanant rain was one I definitely remember them playing). Cody on the other hand was super creepy and ended up trying to hit on and sleep with my roomate.
Gosh, it's crazy what kind of negative impact one person can have other people's image. I'm happy they seemed to find each other again and moved on from Cody.
Nothing worse than touring with some guys and one of them gets creepy when yall are in a strangers house.
I saw them on the War Paint tour in Lansing, at Macs Bar, which is a tiny venue. I had to walk 5 miles to get there because it was my freshman year of college and they don't allow you to bring your car that year. Was well worth the walk. Still one of my favorite shows.
I saw them at warped 2011 and they signed my copy of war paint. Then I saw them again in 2012 at a tiny venue
Spun my copy of RFTS for the eighth anniversary of its release today. Still feels the same way it did back when I first heard that album, in the last few weeks of high school.
They're great live. I saw them in Madison and there were like 15 people there, lol. We were able to sit side stage for a portion of the show and they sounded great.
I loved every Nashville gig they played for sure. "I laid awake in bed, and thought of better times I never wanna sleep Cause I found apathy in laying down and never waking up" & I waited two more years Covered up my ears I think I'm ready to sing this time.
i saw them ONCE on what i think was their final tour. they played SF in a tiny venue. it was one of my first shows, i didn't wear earplugs. i regretted that decision. but hearing so many of my favorite songs was worth the intense ringing in my ears.
i saw them on one of their last uk shows for sure, it was in a tiny room and it was SO loud, i wish i wore ear plugs
that last chorus when he just belts out the lines is one of my favorite parts of their entire discography. this song, and in the overall sense, their first two albums, made me realize how important drums can be on pop rock music.
I had a dream about these guys last night. Me and my two friends went to Warped Tour to see them (and only them) but it wasn't in a typical venue, more like a zoo-type area. We had to complete an obstacle course to get to their stage, which was packed. They played a new song, it was real heavy and post-hardcore like. Then I woke up.
yeah it was weird anyways just another thing in the long list of things but AJ changed his instagram to "Singer/Songwriter/Bass in @dangeroussummer"
