RFTS: This Is War, Weathered, Symmetry WP: Everyone Left, No One's Gonna Need You More, In My Room I couldn't get through a full listen of GR.
One of the only flaws I can think of with this album is releasing it in January. This, especially when listening to Infinite, reminds me of an album I want on a warm summer night.
RFTS: Where I Want to Be, Never Feel Alone, Reach For the Sun WP: Everyone Left, No One's Gonna Need You More, Waves S/T: This is Life, Ghosts, Infinite Only gotten through GR a couple of times...didn't like it, ever. I remember actually liking the "reimagined" tracks WAAAAAY better than the "real" versions lol. Also I went back and changed my top 3 from RFTS and WP about 15 times. I give up, they're all fucking incredible.
If we are doing favourites... RFTS: Where I Want To Be, Symmetry, The Permanent Rain, Never Feel Alone WP: No One's Gonna Need You More, Siren, Parachute, Waves GR: Catholic Girls, Sins, Knives S/T: This Is Life, Ghosts, Infinite
I’ve decided I might prefer War Paint to RFTS. Wish I hadn’t waited so long to really devote time to this album.
I don't know if I care for this band anymore This all sounded good 10 years ago when it was young and inspiring and the riffs and production were popping, but the exact same riffs and hopeful platitudes a decade later don't really work for me anymore
This sounded decent on my first listen but I'm already bored of it the second time around. I'm probably done with it for the year. There isn't one song on this that drives as hard as "parachute".
Did anyone rip it?!? & sometimes I wish I could think of something else, I'm coming back for more, I'm coming back for more.
can confirm that a night drive is the best way to experience this album...I hit a wide open country road with no cars and When I Get Home came on and it was just perfect. so far Fire has been the song to stick with me, it's definitely the "catchiest" one I think. I also really like Luna, I don't have kids but it's still so positive and a "feel-good" song. I also really like Ghost now, after hearing it but without music video haha...the first time I heard it was with the video and it didn't click, idk I just think the video was a little too cheesy(?) for me to enjoy the song. Anyways, as several people who got the record early said, I think this was a perfect comeback record for them--an album for the fans that says "hey we're different, but we're still the same." now they just need to steal bryan back from dreamcatcher! Edit: seeing them this Friday and the excitement has been building even faster since I heard the record. I think it'll be totally cathartic to see them again, they've meant so much to me for so long.
Not sure if this was posted, but Alex from Mayday Parade is playing second guitar on this tour that they're on right now.
"I'll go to sleep when i'm dead. Stay awake 'til the next wave starts to kick in. And I feel like I'm flying away. You were echoing all my thoughts to me. I started bleeding colour once again, And it poured like rain, For a hundred days. We never looked up once, But that's where the stars were. Yeah, that's where the light came from. I'm finding myself and I'm leaving my body here."
I actually really like Golden Record. It's probably my least favorite, but I still go back to it frequently and really enjoy it. As for S/T, my favorite so far is "Infinite", right after it kicks in about a minute and a half in.
did not expect to like this as much as I did really just excellent pop-rock songwriting I had a huge Reach for the Sun phase like sophomore year of high school but didn't expect this new one to do as much for me as it has
also totally agree with everyone remarking on the album being a grower first spin I was relatively unimpressed but more and more layers have revealed themselves to me on subsequent listens
