I like When I Get Home a lot, but I dislike the intro riff. Feels a little cheesy compared to the rest of the song.
I’m on the fence. There are great parts of songs but I’m not sure I really love any of them completely except for the opener, closer, and the back half of this is life.
Look, I play guitar and I understand playing a riff palm muted with delay turned on isn't exactly the most technical thing, but I am such a sucker for how awesome it sounds. Yeah, I'm listening to This is Life.
On Wild Again right now. So far loving it. Really mature songwriting here, excercising just the right amount of restraint. It's not overloaded with instrumentation and leads--they let the songs breathe, which make the more stunning leads all the more effective. The production is just fantastic is general. There's nothing here that gets buried, you can hear it all and it sounds awesome. I'm always a little taken aback by AJ's lyrics. That guy isn't the most eloquent outside his music, but he writes a lot of profound stuff. The hooks are just substantial enough to be effective when coupled when the vocal delivery and often the lyrics themselves.
Don't Die Digging will always be legendary. Bryan was really good at that too though. It really would be crazy to hear both of them playing off one another.
Only managed to listen to half on my lunch break. Good stuff though. The first two tracks are my favorites so far.
