I’m actually surprised by how many people don’t like Fire, it was probably still my favorite on first listen
Fire, Valium, and Live Forever are probably my favorites. When I Get Home as well, but the chorus is/was a bit underwhelming, though im kinda getting used to it for what it is. Only song I haven’t heard yet is Infinite. My least favorites on first listen would be This Is Life, Luna, and Wild Again.
Whoever mixed/mastered the guitars on this deserves a round of applause. The guitars sound massive without being overbearing and annoying.
I've been listening to the album pretty heavily this evening. This is probably the most i've connected with AJ's lyrics since RFTS and it makes me so happy. The last minute of Live Forever is my favorite part of this album.
I went on a drive to give this album a second spin (and Drove through Starbucks). Now on third listen, think this is my second favorite behind War Paint.
Loving this album way more than I thought I would. Color, This is Life, and Luna all floored me. Haven’t wanted to skip a single song, and love the shift in lyrical content. It’s not even February and I can already tell this is going to make my top 5 AOTY list.
I like this a lot. It's different, and perhaps less immediate, but I enjoyed every track on first listen.
Just started listening and track 1 is very good. edit: vocal at the end of "this is life" gave me chills.
On first listen now and WOW first two songs are damn good. I’m writing now during Fire. I feel like AJ’s voice got a little muddled when the choruses hit in? I hope this changes for my ears when I know the words and in the remaining songs!
Infinite is awesome! I do think more moments of AJ just singing like the first 2 minutes of this song are needed. He is shouting and sounds rough on parts of this album when I don’t think he needs to be. His voice is still there and shines in parts and the heavy shouting parts work well in places, but man, it’s gonna be tough singing some of these tracks live. Overall, I’m so happy they are back and this is a strong record. I’ll need more time with it but the guitars on this make me so happy. 2 weeks of this album until Brian Fallon melts me away!
The "Recher Theater" line gave me chills. First time I saw them was at the Recher during the RFTS tour. Saw so many good shows there growing up.
