the picture this painted for me gave me chills and i hope the same thing. to be fair, im gonna let this album dictate my summer too though.
On first listen right now and don't understand how anyone could possibly say this is underwhelming. This is the best first listen I've had in forever. Haven't connected with this band in a long time, but this is amazing
Last night was nuts. I feel like they played more songs than what I've seen on previous setlists? We got War Paint, No One's Gonna Need You More (acoustic) and Starting Over/Slow Down. If you were on the fence about going, just do it.
I've had this for a week-ish now and while I do like it, it's been a slow grower. I really am not a fan of the way the drumkit sounds on songs like Way Down and Violent Red, but it sounds fine on other tracks. It is definitely some of the most ambitious songwriting of their career. So... a mixed reaction?
Obviously a fantastic album and the band should be really proud, but it hasn't really grabbed me. At least not yet.
I feel like I'm missing something with this. It sounds like a lesser version of what they used to be. Less so than their last did but I'm not seeing greatness here.
Speaking of peoples reactions setting me up for disappointment, Prologue -> Blind Ambition ain't one of em.
I feel badly for those not hearing how wonderful this album is. This record knocked me on my ass. Didn’t enjoy the previous two at all, and this one is head and shoulders above them. Also doesn’t hurt that there’s a lot of 3EB influence, which I love.
First full listen. I'm glad I held out until today. This is a marked improvement on self-titled. Agreeing with everyone that this can be an album to define a summer. Highlights for me include: Blind Ambition, Starting Over / Slow Down, It Is Real, Consequence of Living. Definitely see what @Jason Tate is saying about this being their Direction. Need more listens for to evaluate its lasting impact, much like I had to for that album. Overall just glad that an album like this can invigorate the Chorus.fm community for a passionate discussion, which was commonplace in the Absolutepunk days.
The leak sounds better to me than the version on Spotify (even at highest quality settings.) I still have to check out the vinyl, I've had it almost a week but just haven't had time.
