It’s probably my favorite “biking-with-scenic-backgrounds” song. Hits a nerve every time, even if it is v specific
About the throw this on for a second time, but I have to say, though it didn't click with me the first time around as a whole, the voicemail into Blind Ambition almost brought me to tears.
I get that! It kinda reminds me of looking out of the window on a road trip in a place you've never been before.
This album has made me go back through their other albums and my goodness, Golden Record has some dark stuff on it
Alright. Second time around is clicking. Damn. I had been debating on ordering the vinyl, so I just went ahead and pulled the trigger on the ocean variant with the t-shirt, threw in a discounted copy of the self-titled in blue/black smash, as well as the red vinyl of All Get Out's No Bouquet, which I've had my eye on for a while. I try to build up multiple wants with MerchNow and place a single order at the right time to save on shipping.
I still can't listen to Way Down without listening to BMBTL first. They flow into each other so perfectly.
I can't either tbh, that snare hit at the start of Way Down is so much less cool when it's not coming out of BMBTL
Fun fact. I insisted we do that drum hit so we could do a direct nod to Third Eye Blind’s “Good For You”. I had him try a flam hit but the snare and hi hat hit together was the one.
Been driving around southern Utah this past week while hiking some parks. Fun fact: this rips even harder on these empty roads & expansive landscapes
Have never listened to this band. No idea why I missed them 10 years ago when I was on Ap.net all the time and blasting Mean Everything to Nothing constantly. But Craig's review (and, albeit belatedly, his best albums of the oughts list) encouraged me to give them a shot. Really loved Reach for the Sun and almost finished War Paint which hasn't quite grabbed me as much but also sounds good. Can't wait to hear the new album next. Thanks Craig!
Heading down to the show here tonight in a few! Listening to new album on repeat past few days. Holy smokes does it get better and better What's everyones favorite "moment" on the album so far? My favorite in addition to the prologue cell phone into Blinding light is in Starting Over/Slow Down when he sings "now I'm 6 years older " and that extra acoustic comes in with the alternate picking. Got damn. The feel gates are open
Has any band ever attempted a nod at “Good For You”? Not trying to feed your ego Sam, but I don’t need anymore reasons to love this album.
AJ sold me the record (clear is what they have) Said they’re planning on opening with Prologue/Blind ambition on the next tour once people know it. Way Down goes fucking hard live
