Question for @samuel_pura and your comment mentioning Re Amping.. I listened to you on a podcast recently and you said part of your process, if I recall correctly, was you have the guitars be recorded DI and then you try different amps on them later. And I remember you saying that you monitor the guitars clean while doing this to make sure the player hits the string the same way and with same passion through whole take. Did you do that on mother nature and are you saying you hear the clean DI in the control room..Or the the guitarist also hears the guitar clean even on a heavy song? I imagine the guitarist would want to hear some distortion while tracking a heavy song so was just curious about this detail I heard on the podcast. thank you for all these amazing responses! And cant wait for the album!
Would you seriously do this? I'm medically unable to work due to the severity of my mental health issues and have been fighting for disability for the past 4 years and money is hard to come by.
Aw bummer. Ben said on instagram live that it was used on one song. It sounded so cool on Take Me As You Please.
It definitely took Matt a few days and a reamp process to fully envision and understand the process. It’s simply about making the riff sound best on that guitar. If you can do that it’s perfect. You don’t need that saturation etc when you are focusing on “perfect performance”.
Seriously they should start opening their shows by coming on to voice message and then just going into Blind Ambition. Tears. Tears everywhere. AJ do this in LA next week for me?
Thanks for the info! Really digging the sound on these first 3 songs. They really branched out after many albums that mode or less had just straight rock tones... I'm slowly digging through this thread so forgive if this has been answered, but what effects are used on the vocals on first 3 singles? Double tracked and some auto tune? Thanks!
Just a double. All tuned and in time. Some space echo and whatever I need ITB to chase the vibe when I’m not feeling it. No harmonies actually on this record.
in the infinite forest, in the bottomless light through the rain in the morning, through the cracks in the sky you let it unfold you, you let it all swallow you you surrender the pain left behind those eyes; you have to let it change you goddamn man you didnt have to go so hard on my soul
Got my record in today. Finally listened and this is really great on first listen! Not what I was expecting at all but in a good way! Can’t wait until this is on Apple Music! @Samuel Pura you are a monster!
im telling you the best part of the record is the "move along" vibes on "where were you when the sky opened up"
And now I’m sleeping with these dreams I can’t stop playing in my head There’s one in which I’m drowning And then one where I’m beginning to start over new Chills
HOLY FUCK I JUST REALIZED BEN AND MATT HAVE BEEN IN THE BAND SINCE BEFORE GOLDEN RECORD???? WTF how did i never realize? i was randomly watching the music video for sins and i was like wait a second is that matt????
thats hilarious because as i was listening to mother nature earlier today i couldnt help but realize how the drum style was super similar to golden record and i meant to check if ben was the drummer on that record or not
Ben is such a good drummer. He’s always doing interesting shit on the rims and playing non conventional beats for the genre. Almost every band would be blessed to have him
I remember watching his TDS drum covers so many years ago and being blown away, just realized how long he's been in the band as well.
Sweet! One more question here.. how much of the album did they write up at Panda those 2 months versus what they brought in pre written demos etc.. 50/50 or..?
