I like it, don’t mind the vocals but I’m one of the few that doesn’t mind the vocals on GR either. Both songs sound more full and not as “flat” as S/T did
my problem isnt necessarily the vocals themselves (i listen to PLENTY of music with harsh vocals, after all), but the fact that they just dont mesh at all with the style of music under them. if thats how hes gonna sing their music needs to be heavier and more post-hardcore, because the pop rock styling just sounds disjointed from his aggro vocals
Damn, yeah the harsh vocals just aren't my style but the music is...kinda like Sophos was sayin'. They kinda take me out of it.
Y'all don't think the harsher vocals go with the kind of wall of sound-style chorus here? I definitely get @sophos34's point in terms of a lot of the stuff on Golden Record, but I feel like it fits more in this song. He isn't as harsh in the verses here as in the chorus when the sound gets bigger.
not really no. structure wise, feel wise, this sounds like its supposed to be a melodic pop rock song to me. there is hardly any melody left to his vocals.
Yep. They used to be very infectious vocal melodies and that's what I loved/miss. I'm sure there will be more that I like on the record though. Loved the first single.
I like the song well enough but I also agree that it might’ve benefited from toning down those vocals
I do think the vocals fit this better than they did on Golden Record... but it is still a bit jarring if I’m being honest. Especially when you get to the bridge and he’s full-on screaming lol. I’m excited to hear the rest of the record still though, I get the feeling they’re gonna go more outside the box on this one, and I still like both singles overall (love the first one)
