I really love the last record and I LOVE some songs on Golden Record but it never connected like the other 3 for me. I cannot wait for this.
I liked the last one quite a bit. Excited to see them branch out, but the self-titled was competent. Color, This Is Life, Fire, Ghosts, and Infinite are some of my faves.
I’m more hooked on the three singles for this than I have been on any album’s pre-release singles for a good while. Fuck.
What are the highlights on Golden Record? I remember I tried listening to it a couple of years ago and nothing clicked with me. Maybe I'll give some songs another chance.
I love the hell out of "Catholic Girls" and "Miles Apart." There are some other good songs on there too, but those ones are all-timers for me.
Yeah, "Sins" is the one I remember most. I should listen to that again but can't pull myself away from this one.
I remember “Sins” being the most powerful from that album. “Catholics Girls,” “Drowning,” and “Knives” we’re also good. So essentially, the top half of the album.
I don't like "Drowning" or "Knives" at all. Probably my two least favorite TDS songs, along with "Valium" from the last record.
Catholic Girls is a great song. The rest of that record sucks, besides MAYBE "Honesty" Their last record wasn't great, but it was wayyyyy better than "Golden Record" War Paint Reach for the Sun Self Titled Golden Record
I still think Where I Want to Be is this band's best song. Maybe Work in Progress. Also, the biggest offender of Golden Record is how WEAK the "gang vocals" sound. Chorus of Knives? Beginning of Anchor? Get that weak crap out of here.
I still can't take "Miles Apart" seriously, the first minute or so they go full Puddle of Mudd and it makes me laugh
I think I’m going to give GR a listen tonight. I remember enjoying Catholic Girls, Miles Apart, Sins, and We Will Wait In the Fog when it came out, but Catholic Girls is the only one I actively revisit. I hardly remember the last 3 tracks.
You back off Anchor!! I love that song. Forgot about it because I only like 4 songs on that album. “We worked so hard just to feel alright. I'm not scared to die for all the promises I made. We did it. We did it.”
