Saw them after WP came out and it was great but ever since that have noticed that even had a friend say it sounds like a goat. Doesn't bother me because I love TDS but definitely noticeable. Saw them on 10 Year reach for the sun tour recently and thought it was the best the have sounded since that WP tour. Arms Akimbo was a surprise too, check em out.
I'm just curious what effect it is. I do recall wondering if he was shaking his voice for emotion live. Occasionally, but as you said live in the room its maybe not as noticeable. I'm just nervous now ill be looking for it and be distracted. But I wonder if any sound engineers or live music professionals could chime in which vocal effect that is. It does sound like singing into a fan. In the choppy way. Its not standard vibrato. Or tremolo. Its not on the acoustic performances a.j does. But I'm hearing it on every live recording from 2013 on that I've checked after noticing it on this live album (which has it the most) I hope they drop using it
Listen to ‘Never Feel Alone’ - there’s no way to do that with your voice naturally. It may be different effects on different songs, though. It’s a lot more pronounced on some songs than others.
Whatever it is it is absolutely unlistenable lol. That’s said, cool of them to do this love album for a good cause.
It's a shame too, cuz instrumentally this sounds insanely tight. I love what they did with Starting Over and Infinite.
Big time missed opportunity not having your second sentence be "Fuck, I never knew that summer started"
AJ posted a clip of a new song he did for someone from his workshop in his IG stories. I clicked on it and when it went to the persons page it was actually the full song. He needs to release these!
