Wide Open would definitely wake that section up a bit! I figured Gold Star would be the most controversial of the combined album. The lyrics hit home so it made the cut for me. Give the playlist a try with Wide Open slotted in, it flows pretty damn well throughout
this is one of my favorite parts of a TDS song ever: I've been a mess my whole life For you, I'm gonna learn Hollow I get my silence from my father The stoic walls to the heart I have I'ma light them on fire Just give me time to burn In the cross of my wires I really thought I'd lose you 'Cause everyone eventually floats away And something tells me I'm not gonna change 'Cause there's a lot untie (something tells me I'm not gonna change) So, give me time to work (something tells me I'm not gonna change) There's a lot to my mind (something tells me I'm not gonna change)
I have told myself to go back into GR through until now and pick the 2-3 songs I love to build two decent albums out of the 4 meh and see what I can do, but being an adult is time consuming lol I honestly prefer broken glowsticks songs to most of tds stuff recently
Along with TDS's discography I also dove through every Broken Glowstick song recently and yeah, all of that stuff is great. Funeral Song, In My Head and Car Crash can go to bat with almost any TDS song post-MN.
Yeah i listened to War Paint yesterday all the way thru for the first time in a long while and holy hell does that rip. War Paint, Work in Progress, Miscommunication, I should leave right now, in my room, waves. So so good.
honestly surprised how cool people are on this album. but i will fully admit i do not think they have put out a bad album (aside from maybe blue sky) and think coming home was decent even if not as good as the first two
Yeah, I'm a lot harder on their last couple than I would be if a band I'd never heard before released the same stuff. But that's what happens when you've put out albums like RFTS and MN, which are both probably top 10 all time for me
I mean I flat out wouldn’t even give the last two albums more than one listen if it was another band. There’s tons of bands out there that are just fine but I never listen to them because I just don’t feel compelled to. That’s what TDS would be to me if coming home and gravity were their debut and sophomore releases
I'm with most that this album has some bright spots, and starts to fizzle about halfway. I'm basically copy past for most of the commentary in this thread. MN is also my gold standard for their most recent work and while everything post MN has had some solid songs, nothing has lived up to it. IMO Gravity is a a great song and I'd put it up there with some of the best of MN. Everything else on the album is a tier or more below. I must also come in late to the thread to agree that someday is easily the worst Dangerous summer song in the catalog and just terrible in general. I hate the word cringe, but dammit that one got me as soon as I heard it. I couldn't believe what I heard haha.
Just listened to Mother Nature front to back for the the first time in a while. Such a special album and @Samuel Pura absolutely killed it.
My List: RFTS Mother Nature Golden Record If you could Only keep me alive War Paint Self Titled Gravity 2020 EP Coming Home Gravity may raise higher as it's so new. Getting better and better with each listen. Also I got into the band in 2013 with the release of Golden Record, so that's my favorite sound for the band. I love the rougher vocals. And the songs as well. War Paint is great no doubt, but a lot of the songs sound the same to me a bit. That has been a criticism of the band by some. And I think it's actually a strong point for them. But War Paint really feels like one long song in my mind tone wise
Huh, I actually think War Paint beats the “every song sounds the same” criticism more than Reach for the Sun does.
