I think golden record has aged pretty well and sounds better to me now than it did when it came out. maybe that’s because how meh I’ve been on almost everything since that it sounds good in comparison

His raspy vocals ruins most of Golden Record for me. But Catholic Girls and Sins are still top tier TDS.

I’d take his vocals on golden record over his vocals on this album any day if I’m being honest with you

Matt Kennedy came pretty close for me as a huge The Graduate fan but again fuck that dude if the rumors are true. I’m all for giving new guys a chance to fill that role and I’m rooting for them but it’s hard to ignore the absence of some of that magic Cody, Bryan, and Matt all brought. I think the lack of a second guitarist has been evident for a while and Bryan held it down on those first couple albums. I may miss him more than Cody tbh.

Golden Record is hit or miss and is terribly sequenced, but it also has some genuine all-timers on it. Definitely better than these last two.

This band always been just sort of “they’re fine” for me, pretty forgettable overall, but I’ve given this a few proper listens and enjoyed it quite a bit

Always have loved Golden Record. Self titled is the one that’s aged better than I expected

I don’t remember where I got it, but I listen to a version of the whole album that’s tuned up a bit, haha

First listen on Gravity, I was happy with the end result. Stratosphere wasn't a vibe until like the 3rd listen. Brotha eww was my first thought, but then I listened to the lyrics, and it's alright.

Listening to this front to back is personally my preference. I never really had that preference, besides Shinedown's Devil album. That took me a year to actually enjoy.

Overall, it's better than Coming Home. It's not as horrible as everyone thinks, but that album drops hard looking past the singles. Gravity is a good addition to to discography. For the record, every song on the album has a place, all the singles are great, opener, turning love into war.... It's all better than meet me in the morning

    RFTS
    WarPaint
    2008 EP
    2020 EP

Yeah this is definitely not a BAD album, I just always put TDS on a pedestal because of how amazing RFTS, WP & MN are to me.
This isn't going to be a 'listen start to finish' album for me going forward, but there are 6 songs on here I think are bangers and will keep on my TDS essentials playlist.

Btw I've been revisiting Golden Record this morning. Probably been 4 years since I've listened to this in full, and.....it's much more enjoyable than I remembered. Maybe it just feels stronger in comparison to their last few releases. Forgot how much I enjoy Honesty and Miles Apart.

Per your request, a complete fucking banger of an album. I call it All That Is Left Of Home Is Gravity.

Haha that is pretty interesting. I would swap I'm Alive for Lie to me with a quickness tho

Solid! I do appreciate that you picked songs that also go together well. I like “Fuck Them All” and “LA In a Cop Car,” but I’m unsure they’re indicative of what would come after.

I have that version to but now it sounds wrong because I got used to the original but the original still sounds wrong too lol

I like "Lie to Me," but it didn't really match the vibe I was going for. "Come Alive" has always been one of my favorites from the EP, though. A nice, breezy summertime feel.

I strongly dislike "Fuck Them All," haha. A total nothing chorus.

"Come Alive" is the Mashup I didn't know I needed haha. But I knew what ya meant

Lol, whoops! In my defense, there are songs on that EP named both "Come Down" and "Come Along." Why not "Come Alive"?!

Maybe every one of their records isn’t amazing front to back, but they would sure as hell have a great greatest hits album.

I would also add Goodbye from Coming Home. I love that song. Underrated imo.

Without a Doubt. But it would definitely be a "Best of" as they've never had a "hit" chart Wise. Maybe Spotify wise tho
