Shouldn’t take a third party to be more honest to the fans than the band themselves. Hope the fallout isn’t too bad!!
I mean, I feel like most bad things come out from a third party initially. Generally an artist will respond to a call out or whatever. I’m sure you can give examples where the band got ahead of some. But that’s just what my memory is pulling up.
So this insinuates someone from the band watches this thread, which means they saw all of us questioning their judgment of joining the Emarosa tour.
I, for one, was never under any false impression that this was a band full of good dudes, to be frank, lol. There’s a reason the drama didn’t stop when they kicked Cody out. Still, that doesn’t make any of this any less disappointing to read. Also, I was listening to I Should Leave Right Now today and I feel like the lyrics have really suffered on their recent albums. They used to have really cool lyrics filled with metaphors, etc. and lately they’ve just been kind of bland and on the nose. Stuff like “I have lost my wind, roll the windows down…” there’s so many great, poignant lyrics like that on the first three albums in particular.
The way AJ stopped writing real bridges/went real simple for choruses always confused me. He was so, so good at both of those things on the first two records.
I’m never usually someone that comments on someones personal habits, because we all have them regardless of what degree of severity we consider it, but it seems glaringly obvious that if AJ can’t keep his shit between the lines and cool off a bit, he’s not gonna be able to make this thing last. Hard to understand how he doesn’t see that.
he probably does but is in denial about it, thats what addiction is like (sorry not to diagnose over the internet but dudes pretty obviously an alcoholic). personally when i was in it it was just about seeing another day.
I totally get it. I was there too. And I know there is no same silver bullet that pulls someone out of it, but I’m hoping whatever that is finds him soon. I think there’s so much unlocked talent there for him, if he could just find his way to channel it in a healthy way.
@Samuel Pura i went down the rabbit hole and listened to MN for the first time in a long time. How involved were you in the sequencing? This album is sequenced flawlessly.
I truly think that album has some of the best bridge writing I’ve ever heard. So many bridges that take their songs to a whole other level.
Okay this is nowhere near the main takeaway from the above, but can someone shed light on the "Ben scenario"? He drummed when I saw them for the RFTS anniversary tour after Mother Nature (in hindsight the perfect time to see them) and Ben was super cool afterwards.
For me it's Miscommunication. It's already incredible before you get there, and then the bridge somehow kicks it into a new gear. The combo of lyrics and harmonies starting at "do you remember when we met" is too much to handle sometimes.
Yeah, that's probably my favorite too. "No One's Gonna Need You More" and "Siren" are up there. "Waves" too. Man, there are a lot of great bridges on that album...
This bridge lives rent free in my head anytime this discussion happens. "I took a trip down south and felt the sun on my face, and it Made things okay for a second I drew a picture of my problems when I was going insane And I focused on the currents It's the funny thing about it, I Never seem to worry that every single current's not the same It's all about position, and where I choose to lay And God, I am going away"
I love the early music. But what a mess. Didn’t they have a whiskey drinking club vip thing on the last tour? That’s bound to create trouble.
