The Dangerous Summer - Coming Home (2022) Album • Page 36

  1. Feel like that project has almost no traction or advertisement. He barely averaged 600 monthly listeners on Spotify. I’ve preferred that project to the newest TDS record

Yeah I wonder if it's intentionally low key to not conflict with TDS? Not that he wouldn't want it to be a big hit, just maybe he plans to just do minimal promotion?

The vocal delivery feels odd, like a restraint vocal meets rap meets sweet summer love song. Either way, keep releasing music. I’ve like songs from both projects. Still think the song Coming Home is one of my favourites of theirs since their first two albums

Prolific streaks generally sacrifice quality control for pure creative energy. The results can go either way.

I'm at peace with the fact that even if this new one only has a few great songs I can add them to Coming Home (song), Sideways etc and end up with a bit of a 'best of the rest' playlist. That happens for a lot of the greats - I have one for post-21CBD Green Day, post-Sufferer Rise Against, and others. A few more songs to love from a great band that seems to be past its creative prime.

That said, I'm not ready to put TDS in that category after one EP and one LP that didn't quite live up to expectations. Hoping they've knocked this one out of the park, especially with some more focus on lyrics and structure (rather than 2 verses and no bridges). Cant wait to hear it either way.

Write and record while you’re inspired. Some bands take forever to try and craft the perfect album and it just doesn’t stick with fans. Many great records, especially earlier in in a bands career are done on tight timelines and low budgets to help have something to sell on yours. If this isn’t going to be the band that can craft masterpiece with more time, then write record and get it out.

I will also do the same, and throw my favourite songs on a playlist and just fall back on that. Hope I enjoy the entire next record, but if there’s some I don’t live maybe another TDS fan will.

After 6 months or so what's everyone's favorites from the album? I think mine are sideways. Dimensional Love. And goodbye

I’m pretty sure I only really return to Dimensional Love. I haven’t found myself coming back to this at all, sadly.

I’ve honestly felt that way for a while. The first three releases are some of my all time favorites from the scene too. Even the come back with Purna doesn’t excite me the way war paint does.

The song Coming Home for me. Feels like a song that could have been on the same album as some of the other War Paint songs (in a good way).

I re-visited the album today and my main issue with it, is the sheer amount of mid tempo ballad style songs. It sounds like pieced together songs in the studio a bit compared to a driving band at times. When you see them live they have a rough around the edges, heavy sound to them. They retain some of that slight punk leaning live they have had, even if not always at the forefront. I hope they retain this, and have some more upbeat and rocking songs. Also I feel the more "emotional" songs are being used over on broken glowsticks a bit. I think the last 2 releases would have been better if it had some of those tracks. I do still really like dimensional and the aforementioned tracks from the album. But right now today, it's actually feeling below the 2020 EP in my ranking.

My standouts are Coming Home, Sideways, Dimensional Love and Meet Me In The Morning.

I think Meet Me In The Morning has the best part of the whole album when AJ belts out 'It feels like we're almost there now'.

Dimensional Love took a while but grew on me a lot and now I can see why it's a favourite among many fans.

those are the only 3 I will even listen to aside from a sporadic “Meet Me in the Morning” for a few specific moments. That said, I do quite like those 3. However, Dimensional Love is the only song I repeatedly seek out. Love that one.

That part is solid. I also respect the change up with them having the lyrics in Spanish, but for some reason I feel it be better if it was in English.
