Yeah as others have mentioned this is defs a grower. Matt and AJ full on committed to making mid-tempo alt rock album and they didn't do too bad a job :)
It's a grower, yeah, but most of their albums, for me, have been "I have to make myself listen to something else," and this one is "I have to make myself listen to this."
This is completely where I am, album is okay but feels mostly like a continuation of the EP which also didn't really stick with me
Me neither, at least not too much, didn't land in my TOP, but "Fuck Them All" was the bomb! and I was definitely interested to hear them with Aaron Gillespie on other songs.
Grower for sure. I’ve been listening to it each night while I cook dinner. It’s the perfect mid-tempo alt rock to make fajitas to.
I like Coming Home, but I listened to Mother Nature again today and was reminded of how exceptional that album in comparison.
Something that hasn’t been mentioned yet: Christian Zawacki is a very solid drummer, the simplicity in the structure of the drumming is more of the same but what he does within those limitations is impressive. I really hope they expand his role a bit on the next album and allow him to give it all like Tyler used to.
Yes he is definitely solid, not sure if you caught the q and a I posted from them yesterday, they said the day they met him, they started recording sideways. Which is impressive for sure.. but now they have a tour under their belt together , I too hope he makes some more innovative and complex beats like Tyler and Ben.. Ben was simplified on Mother Nature a bit but even that included, every single part of the song has an innovative element to the beat which I miss a tad for sure. Christian is definitely solid and has a great flow tho.
This isn’t vocally focused but I love it. Closer makes me cry and Gold Star and dimensional love bang
I agree that the flow of the way he sings it is is nice. I do think it works in the song. But... ...yeah, very poorly, haha. It's not so much the accent aspect (his "en la mañana" sounds decent enough), but he's just straight-up mispronouncing "encuéntrame"—I'm hearing *encontráme [ɛnkon'tɹamɛɪ] (rather than [ɛn'kwɛntrɑmɛɪ]). It was weird enough that I had to look it up to verify what he was singing. Good song though.
Really wonder if they'll switch it up this round. I doubt they will just repeat the same as Coming Home/ The EP.. I'm hoping for heavier and more fast paced. Ya never know.. what do you guys expect?
