I know what you mean. The main lyric in question if I played it for someone else and didn't say anything I think most wouldn't catch it
Wow really thought this would be better received. I enjoyed it on the first listen. Not quite like another Nature but enjoyed a few of the tracks.
I thought that and the title track are pretty great and easily the best. It's not grabbing me like Mother Nature at all but it's deserving of more listens I'd say at least
this is nowhere near as bad as the comments here led me to believe. probably on par with the s/t for me
Second full listen through and some of these are definitely growers not showers lol. Polarity and Goodbye really benefit from a few more listens.
There’s a few good songs on here, but pretty disappointed in this. I’ve really enjoyed everything they’ve done post reunion and this is definitely the weakest release since Golden Record for me. Glad to see they are already working on a follow up.
Wide Open and Dimensional Love have been playing on repeat these past 2 days. I definitely enjoy this more than the EP, which is at the bottom of my rankings. I probably put this on the same level as Golden Record, which I also think is pretty good.
I have to admit: the entire album is sounding better to me today. Gold Star especially working for me REAL well this evening.
I went and listened to Mother Nature and then back to this, one thing that stuck out, on Mother Nature A.J is singing for the stars. That grit and loud almost strain he nails. This one is waaay more clean and smooth vocals, even on the heavier tracks. I think Lie to Me from the EP may even have more of that super loud grit vocal than anything on here
MN and the ep were phenomenal, even the title track was great. But the rest doesnt vibe with me at all yet. Bummer, hopefully thatll change.
Agree with a lot of what's being said here. Better than I was expecting, on par with S/T which I like a lot.
the songs from big green eyes to polarity are all good (gold star and polarity being the better of the four) but they do really stack on the mid tempo songs and it does get a little sloggy there i agree. imo ditch someday (which is a shame because i like it musically really) and one of those four songs and you have an excellent 9 track record.
i do think bunching up those slow songs was a really bizarre choice, and i agree that big green eyes kinda sucks and slows down the record. i will say, though, that someday is a lot less boring in context. very unsure why that was a single when they couldve gone with, like, anything else. dimensional love was right there
i wanna imagine dimensional love on like modern rock radio i like someday because the riff sounds like slowcore to me lol
Yeah I actually also really like Someday but unfortunately I can’t get past the lyrics. Polarity somehow went completely unnoticed on my first couple of listens but it is a top tier album track. Really coming around on this whole thing! Admittedly it seems to work a bit better for me when I split my listens into two halves but the second half is definitely much stronger than I initially gave it credit for.
I'm not sure who posted they weren't listening to the singles and waiting for the album to come out to hear it all at once, but I think next album I'm only going to listen to the first single, and wait for the album. The fact I knew the opening 3 tracks and had listened to them a ton, Made me want to skip the beginning of the album. If I could hear them all fresh it would be that much better. As those first 4 songs are such a great straightaway
After sitting with the album for a bit I think it's pretty ok. As other have said there are too many slow tracks that drag down the energy and don't add anything interesting. Would have definitely been a stronger EP as about half of this is pretty cool.
I love the slow songs lol, I'm happy the fans don't make their decisions for them. The album continues to grow on me the more I listen. That said, I've been listening to the first two albums & I still absolutely love everything about them. War Paint is probably my favorite thing they have done, followed very closely by Mother Nature.
I think the initial listening experience feels off because the first 4 songs are very good, but 3 of those were released early. I think I’m going to keep listening to this and hope I settle in once my expectations are tempered. Dimensional Love is great, though. Kind of gives me that AVA sound haha
