I listened to it 4 times at least today. It's so damn good. It seems like a continuation of the Mother Nature sound, which is a great thing. Super excited. The vibe is totally there on this one
Forgot to add, I think this may be my favorite video I've seen from them as well, those sky shots are awesome
Yeah I've been pretty critical of AJ's output since Mother Nature but this song is really, really good. Excited for the record.
I think just making really good solid albums and using the EP’s to experiment between is pretty cool.
I really like this, a return to form after some “meh” music. I still can’t get over them not going with Sam Pura again, but hope that the new album is good anyways.
Sam was all over the Mother Nature thread, I thought we got a reason though I don't recall for sure or what it was
I feel like I'm taking crazy pills cause I don't think the EP or this or Mother Nature are all that removed from each other. They all feel very part of a whole cloth to me.
Same. This is not far removed from the EP like at all imo. Feels like an extension of it but with slightly better production. also the EP is super underrated around here
Sam stated he was slightly surprised they didn't do the follow up with him. But I think that the new studio is literally down the street from A.J and Sam's studio is across the country and I imagine it would cost a lot more. That coupled with the fact they are independent now, and not funded for studio time by Hopeless. Throw in some lockdowns and a pandemic and it all makes sense. And to be honest, as much as I love Mother Nature and the sounds Sam got. I was slightly worried he would take them in a more pop direction. The Hundredth album Rare with Sam is unreal, but the follow up they did after they went way more pop sounding. (Not sure if this was Sam's idea or bands of course)
Yeah the band was asked about working with Sam again at some point and I remember them saying it was mainly location and money that was preventing it.
Really trying to figure out how Hundredth switching gears away from Hardcore completely to a dreamy post-hardcore sound then to a pop leaning dreamy sound plays into this at all, haha
I don't totally see it either but I'm going with it haha. Basically what I mean is, if the argument is that Sam's influence leads to a more spacey, dreamy vibe (which, maybe, but I don't know that there's enough evidence to say that's a trend), I'd be more than happy to hear more of that from TDS
You can hear green eyes just after coming home finishes at the hour mark here: Blubrry PowerPress Player
That wasn't what I expected. Loved it! never heard straight acoustic from them on an album except on RFTS acoustic
I went back and listened to the EP and the single from last year just to confirm, and yeah, I still like this new song a lot more. It’s more driving and energetic, IMO
