Saw TDS over the weekend at the last date of tour. They played "Coming Home," said that song will release this month on April 29th, confirmed that "Coming Home" is also the name of the album, AND mentioned that it will likely be out sometime August-October.

 

cannot wait i am ready for what i will be calling this band's "nashville phase" (just because of the hat)

 

It upsets me that a band with the name Summer in its name, doesn't tend to release albums right at the start of summer!

Mother Nature came out in May 2019 and that soundtracked my entire summer

 

work in progress was a june single and the album dropped in july if im not mistaken too.

 

Reach for the Sun came out in May as well.

War Paint came out in July followed by one of the best months of my life.

 

summer 2011 was a blissful, transcendent time and the pinnacle of my adolescence lol and war paint was the soundtrack to it.

 

Huge yikes from Hopeless.

 

Not to downplay how messed up this specific instance is, but isn’t this fairly common? Or am I just making shit up based on random things I’ve heard?

 

I think it is fairly common. TDS are one of the few being this vocal about how unfair it is, and deservedly so.

 

It’s fucked up, but not uncommon. I bet if they ever do audit Hopeless, they’ll pull some shit and say every phone call/meeting/dinner was billable.

 

Record labels are a racket and money laundering scheme, especially one the size of hopeless that somehow still can’t properly pay their highest grossing artists

 

Yea, they're basically banks but worse.

 

Does Hopeless actually make $2,200 a month off The Permanent Rain? That number seems high for a song off an album that came out 10+ years ago.

The response from the owner of Hopeless up there is strange, did he really think they "got rich" off merch and shows? If anything AJ has always talked how little money they have made and he took a 9 to 5 when they broke up. In fairness Cody apparently stole all their funds tho

 

yeah the hopeless dude thinking AJ is rich shows how out of touch label people are with the reality of band's finances. even during their height they never really evolved past the larger size club venues. bands like that are lucky to break even let alone make a profit off their tours. and any profit goes back into investing in the band be it a new van/more merch/new equipment/equipment maintenance etc. etc. being a musician isnt cheap

 

worse, the dude knows he ain't rich.

they're just like a boss who thinks if they gave you a dollar raise, the business would go under.
