Since their reunion this band has had a few lyrics that have made me do a double take. This one though, I was like that can’t be what he said…but it was lol.
Yeah, big yikes lol. I’m glad they are still at it but they just haven’t captured the magic of those first two albums for me. I know that’s a cliche thing to say and I will always check out whatever they put out, but it’s just not the same. The lyrics don’t help. There used to be a real artistry to the way he wrote, but lines about doing bumps of cocaine and the line in this song, coupled between songs about how much he loves his toddler…I hate to be judgmental but it’s like, at least use some type of metaphor or something. It just doesn’t sit right with me. Maybe it’s just that I can’t relate to it.
Did you listen to Mother Nature? I’m obsessed with RFTS and War Paint and I think it’s on par with those albums.
Yeah, it’s the best thing they’ve done since the reunion but it still doesn’t touch the first two records for me. It’s good but it never grabbed me like it seemed to grab everyone else around here.
I loved Mother Nature and really enjoyed the EP as well. Post EP this is the first song that hasn't done it for me, but overall I'm still really enjoying what they are putting out. Looking forward to the album.
I know the line's a little obscene for a TDS song, but I don't really think there's a reason to clutch pearls here. Sexuality is a part of the human experience, and it's mild compared to what's out there. Sweet guitar line, but I could use a more substantial vocal hook. Overall, It's mid. Other songs on the EP have been great.
Kind of reminds me of a song from 90’s or early 2000’s. Maybe a touch of Marcy’s Playground’s “Sex and Candy” song. I think on an album it’ll be nice. Maybe does have the huge vocal hook as mentioned. I didn’t pay too close attention to the lyrics because it’s only been a listen.
Digging the vibe of the new songs. A nice change of pace for them. Pretty excited this comes out in like a month too. When War Paint was about to drop I just started my first job out of college. Now I've moved across the country and am starting a job next week. Kind feels like I've gone full-circle with these guys.
I really like the song, though tbh I thought I misheard those pretty specific lyrics hahh, of course it's mild compared to what's out there, but why would you write that.
This song takes the expected TDS repetition to the next level. It's slow, and for a song that lyrically portrays a climax it has none. The lyrics are toxic and if the subject of the song is a real person I hope she leaves him because this describes some high level narcissistic manipulative emotional abuse. It rings out like a false promise designed to keep the repetitive pattern going like there will be a happy ending other than the ones he's already getting.
Ha had to look up the lyrics just to see what all the discussion was about. Lyrics always look really dumb outside of the context of the music, but these look REALLY dumb.
This is so bad, especially after the way they gush about their studio time being so creative all over Instagram
