Another great episode. Whitney's neoliberal stuff is SO sinister. Improv class scene is so fucking funny lol.
I'm starting to fall into the crowd where I'm quite enjoying this but also think there had better be a hell of a payoff
Really strange, dark episode. I feel like a I'm missing something with Asher and Dougie's relationship. Nathan rapping was so funny.
I think Dougie is really pissed Asher didn't want to be friends, he kept asking to hangout the first few episodes and Asher blew him off
Gonna be honest I was stoked for this but I’m ready to get through the next two episodes and to the end.
I can understand the criticism and I'm not gonna champion for this show but even if there is no pay off, I'm not going to be upset that I spent time watching this, and would without question watch another season.
ultimately i have the same issues with it as most safdie projects. on paper, they should be my favorite things, but it seems like discomfort is the main point so much that it makes it ultimately an unenjoyable viewing experience.
I'm hoping there's payoff but the show has mostly gotten by on vibes and discomfort for me, which is exactly what I expected from Safdie and Fielder
I've consistently loved this. Very funny throughout and interesting seeing these characters and their relationships/plans develop.
Same. I enjoy the near-constant examination of class/race/sociopolitical dynamics, the unique camerawork, and how people interact with film/being filmed/etc. I also love that it does all this without shoving in your face the messages—it trusts the audience, which I appreciate—and it’s still hilarious. It’s a really smart show and my feeling is that it’s consistently been saying a lot every episode, which is why it’s surprising that folks are saying the point is “just making the audience uncomfortable.” I think it’s doing way more than that. The show has been a breath of fresh air for me.
I actually loved the most recent episode, love seeing how Whitney keeps getting consistently more and more desperate to be looked at as an artist and activist and keeps acting more and more fake - the stuff with Cara's friend acting like a stereotypical Native American to fuck with her was great The Asher and Dougie (who is the best character on the show) storyline was amazing, super funny and uncomfortable at the same time. I know it's almost over now but I'm really curious where this is going, especially with that ending
Yea this episode was awesome, easily the best of the season so far for me for all the reasons you said. Overall I’ve liked this a lot. I probably agree with the hope that the end has a legitimate payoff, but it’s more that I think a bad one would ruin what has been a great season more than the prevailing criticism that this has been a meandering show in need of something to happen. Have been a huge fan of how they’ve developed these characters.
