Nathan For You and The Rehearsal were all about how Nathan's pure artifice so I don't know who the real Nathan is just like he wants it
I mean of course he's playing a character, he's played a character in everything I've seen him in. What I mean is, he's playing almost the exact same character he was in NFY and The Rehearsal. Not a bad thing, just an observation following the Gatorade scene
i guess somewhat, i feel like we've never seen him as aggro and small as he seemed in the interview scene
I wouldn't say it's always funny but scenes like the Gatorade shower and the art exhibition are so up my alley.. it's every cringe beat of Fielder's previous projects dialed up to the nines with even more stress and straight up black humor (The Safdie DUI scene is supremely dark and made me incredibly anxious). Nathan for You and The Rehearsal are both shows I deeply admired, so getting more of that in actual dramatic show is really great. Also, Daniel Lopatin is just killing it with the score per the usual
Ohhh good to know, I googled after some of the opening notes in the premiere sounded like peak OPN and I guess I misread!
I was right there with you! Also as much as the show makes me laugh, I think it's pretty clearly going for a different tone than straight-up comedy. It's not gonna be for everyone. As a horror guy and a Safdies fan, it feels like it was practically made for me in a lab
Second episode was awesome, the whole scene with Safdie and the girl was so brilliantly uncomfortable and Nathan in the office was amazing, I laughed out loud when he poured the Gatorade on him
When he pulled it out to drink, you could tell what he was setting up, but the extra pour right onto his head was a great little Nathan extra push
