Cliche as it may sound, Disintegration is my favorite album of all time. I also have a lot of love for the three albums you listed, Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me, Faith and Wish.

I'm a huge fan of Disintegration and Bloodflowers. All of their other records are decent to great for me as well, except for Wild Mood Swings.

I've been going back and forth on whether I should get a ticket on Stubhub to see them in Chicago this June. I need to decide really soon because I'm running out of time and need to do some messy planning for a trip if I go through with it.

I've been in a very Cure mood the past 24 hours. I need to check out the rest of their discography. I only ever really listen to Disintegration and Wish

Go for Pornography or Head on the Door next. Both super good.

Yeah Pornography seems to be held in as high regard as Disintegration so I'll definitely give it a look. Figured I'd jut go ahead and download Head and Kiss Me and Bloodflowers as well

Pornography is so grim and dark lyrically and musically. Definitely a powerful album. Head on the Door has some more pop influence and has a lot of variety. Kiss Me takes that even further and still has a lot of really good stuff but I haven't spent as much time with it since it's so long. I still haven't heard Bloodflowers but I'm intrigued by it since I've seen it compared to Disintegration a lot.

Is anyone going to see them on this tour? I saw them in 2013 and will be seeing them in a few weeks as well. I highly recommend anyone goes to see them, very much worth it!
  13. Aquabandit

Did they play Secrets?? Their setlists have been amazing.....so many songs they haven't played in years and a few they've never played live I believe, plus the new songs!
  14. Horrorca

legends - that basically sums it

the obvious albums are obviously the best, but was listening to the (infamous) s/t yesterday and it's such a killer record, specially considering their peak was like 20 years before that... Ross Robinson, I mean, wtf, hahaha

R Smith is some sort of angel or something, I'm sure

That's awesome. I really hope they open with Tape/Open and if they ALSO did Burn and This Twilight Garden that would be perfect. Last time I saw them they opened with Plainsong which I like but I really love Open haha.
  16. Horrorca

Plainsong is probably my fav The Cure song

It seems a lot of people hate S/T, but I really like it as well. It's not my favorite at all, but there are only a few songs that I'm not crazy about it on it. And even those I still really enjoy, cause....The Cure haha.

I like Disintegration a lot but I've been trying to "get" their other records for years but nothing really clicks. Head on The Door has a few songs I love, Pornography has a cool vibe to it but the only song I revisit is "The Hanging Garden" and Faith didn't really do much for me either.

Guess I need to give them more time.
  19. Horrorca

you can always get the greatest hits - it's sick and easy/catchy AF

by the way, dloaded Join the Dots: B-Sides & Rarities 1978–2001 the other day and was surprised by how much gold it includes - there are b-sides in there that trump many, many bands' biggest singles, man...

Just saw these guys live. They are so unbelievably good at what they do. Robert Smith's voice is still absolutely perfect, as well.
  21. Aquabandit

I just saw them too, they were perfect. So good.

I'm seeing them Wednesday night, last time I saw them was when they were supporting their S/T record back in '04. Speaking of which, that album is criminally underrated. A lot of good gems on that one.

    The Cure
Goth-rock, post-punk, new wave, proto-emo, whatever you want to call them, The Cure were pioneers. Without a doubt one of Britain's most influential exports (and that's saying something), they outlasted people who pegged them as mopey music for sad teenagers to enjoy lasting influence and respect, and eventually racked up a bunch of hits on the way.

    Recommended Listen:

    Crash Course:
    1. Disintegration
    2. Pornography
    3. The Head on the Door

    Compilation Replacement:
    Galore: The Singles 1987-1997

    Signature Songs:
    1. "Boys Don't Cry"
    2. "Just Like Heaven"
    3. "Friday I'm in Love"
    4. "Lovesong"
    5. "Pictures of You"

    Personal Note:
Full disclosure: just about everyone has heard more Cure than I have. I only have two record from them. So I'm sure everyone has other favorites, but I picked 3 albums I know are widely loved and assembled 5 songs that even I knew as a neophyte. Don't stone me. I'm excited to get to know them better.

I adore the Cure, I found them through blink's "All of This" off their untitled record in 2003. Disintegration is one of my all-time favorite records, and "Letter to Elise" is a wonderful song (found through blink as well, they covered it at a Cure showcase).

Might dive into their records I haven't spent as much time with because of the classic artist bump.
