That was one of the best concerts I have ever been to. They sounded amazing, that bass tone absolutely cuts through you. And the setlist was great, they’re one of them bands that can never play everything you want because they just have too many brilliant songs, but they certainly tried their best. Seen them a few times now, but never thought I’d see them in a room that small. Just wish I’d heard the album more than once, but still.
wrote up a little ramble word salad about how much this band means to me, damn I'm in love with this album lol Review: The Cure - Songs of a Lost World | Sputnikmusic
One listen this morning and this is sooo great! I saw them last year and it’s crazy that I actually recognized some of those songs on here. Just shows how memorable they are as songwriters. Simon’s bass tones on this are perfect too.
Simon’s bass tone on this had to grow on me. I’m so used to his tone on all the classic Cure albums, that hearing it on this record was kind of a shock. I love the classic Stingray tone, but his sound on this album definitely sounds unique for sure. It sounds pretty spot on to what it sounded like when I saw them live last year.
The thing that immediately stood out to me what how great the bass work was. Esp on Drone and I Can Never
I was lucky to see them 2 nights in a row last year in San Diego (also one time in 2016). Half the setlist was different each night it was beautiful. Also was super cool they did San Diego twice because no one ever does that!
I went to the first SD show last year and it was incredible. I hope they come to the states soon because I’d love to see them again. They’re also one of my wife’s favorite bands and she’s still never seen them (she couldn’t make it to the shows last year but gave me her blessing to go haha), so I really want her to see them
I saw them 4 times last year, it was worth every second. I’ll be going at least twice next year if they’re in the states.
"And Nothing Is Forever" is one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard. Got me ugly crying at my desk.
I have always enjoyed The Cure’s later-era work in the 2000s but it’s just surreal how much of a knockout songs of a lost world is - and yesterday’s troxy live stream just solidifies it This isn’t just a great late career album - this is an all time pantheon level Cure album
didn't really appreciate how much Reeves brings to the table until I watched that Troxy gig. dude is a beast on guitar
This is so good. You just don’t hear stuff like this anymore. It has those 80’s Goth vibes that genuinely seems like it’s straight out of the 80’s. Drone is straight off Pornography. Holy moly.
The Cure is one of my all time favorite bands. It would take a lot from new material for me to even consider putting it into my personal top 5 of theirs. This album just might do it though. Every time I listen to the album it gets better and considering the wait it took to get it, I feel so grateful that it exists.
I know they mentioned a second new album in the works or whatever. I hope that comes sooner than later too, if they’re setting the bar this high.
I was smoking weed and listening to this today and in the middle I completely forgot that I wasn’t listening to one of their old classic records lol
