trying not to overexcite myself but this bit from the bio on their website is very interesting with the phrasing

"In 2024 Robert Smith finally turned his mind to finishing one of the albums recorded in 2019. Mixing with Paul Corkett (Bloodflowers and longtime Cure FOH Sound), the songs chosen for the first release were finally completed in August."

He has alluded to having two albums in the works pre-pandemic. I assume the "new" songs from the 2016 tour, that haven't been played recently, will be on the second one?

they played It Can Never Be The Same on their 2023 tour so I wonder if maybe that is on the new one. they didn’t play the other one though

Alone is really solid. A bit disappointed it’s only 8 tracks given it has been so long but if this is a two part album then I’m game.

 

I'm okay with it being eight songs if they're all good. Rather that than have them include tracks they are less keen on just to make up the numbers.

That period about 7/8 years ago where lots of bands were putting out really strong eight or nine song albums ruled.

I'm pretty sure all these songs will be long as hell too. probably a similar runtime to the standard 9-song version of Bloodflowers

I loved the news songs I saw them play last year but couldn’t begin to tell you what any of them were called

 

Right, I'd have to look up the set lists but I can't really put my finger on what any of them sound like at this point.

 

But that being said, holy fuck, this song hits just like I wanted.
