Was the previous thread deleted? I can't find it anywhere. Anyway, I'm listening to Disintegration again.

  2. Don’t remember who started it, but yeah I can’t find it either

Been meaning to revisit self titled lately, haven’t tried it since high school. Wasn’t super into it back then. But with all the Ross Robinson talk in basically every Touche feature over the past few months I think maybe it’s time

End of the World is one of my favorite singles by them, but I can't get into the full S/T. Also haven't listened in over a decade, so I should probably revisit as well.

EOTW came out right when I was getting super into the band. I remember grabbing the Greatest Hits and then burning my favorites onto a disc with EOTW on it and playing the shit out of it. Also haven't listened in over a decade, so I should probably revisit as well.

  4. Same re: EOTW. Loved that track and had it on a couple mix CDs that I listened to all the time haha. That was about the time I started trying to get into them too because I was like 14 and loved a certain pop punk band who’s new record Robert Smith was featured on. But when I started downloading random songs from Limewire or whatever I was using at the time, I was a lot more drawn to the Head On The Door/Disintegration era. I think a lot of the modern (at the time) pop punk and emo bands starting to use a lot of synth really helped prime me for them

An inconsequential shift as the continents drift.

s/t could have been so good with a better tracklist but some really weird choices were made on inclusion and exclusion

still a very strong album, neck and neck with Bloodflowers in their later work imo

  7. Wow okay self titled actually kinda owns. I still don’t love how it starts off, but it really gets going with Before Three.

alt.end is really good too, damn

The only Cure album I'd ever heard in full was Disintegration a couple of times, so I've been working my way through them all the last week or two. Trying not to rush to give each one a chance to digest a little, but so far I've gotten to the Top (which is very cool and enjoyable). Pornography is for sure my favorite of the first five though. It's a pretty unbelievable album.

40 years old. Their gloomiest album and one of their best. Never has sonic greyness seemed to have so many shades.

Actually laughed out loud reading that. How long have those albums been coming out for?

just as long as he actually releases both this time and doesn't leave the doom and gloom one shelved forever!

Right? Robert has stated on multiple occasions that “there isn’t a Cure without Simon.” So this may be the end? Who knows? They have been recording a new album for about three years now and allegedly as of June it was going to get mixed.

that's a bummer but we've been lucky to have them around for this long even, so if this is the end then what a fucking career is all I can say

hope we actually get that album

I’m hoping it truly isn’t the end. But without Simon…it doesn’t feel fully right. If he is truly gone. But one hell of a career. My favorite band of all time. Hands down.

If we don’t get a new record I would at least like a re-press of Wish
