just watched Color Out of Space It was kind of nonsensical but there were alpacas and monsters. By the end everything was bathed in blue and purple light, there were so many gorgeous moments that could have been paintings I loved it, definitely going to be a midnight movie
for those interested, there's a new David Lynch short on netflix called What Did Jack Do? It's highly surreal and I enjoyed it.
Film Review: Color Out of Space Is An Over-the-Top Spectacle On Heroin Doses of Camp The headline on this one is a pretty bad slip up lol
Currently watching Tammy and the T-Rex (R-rated version on Hulu) and it’s as bat shit crazy as I anticipated. Reading up on it it’s funny they came across a robotic dinosaur and decided to write and film a movie around it.
I'm ashamed to say I'd never seen it before but I just watched Repo Man. Wow. Loved it. Coffee break.
I just watched Adverse (2021) and it's like The Room level bad. There's a somewhat coherent storyline, and a little action towards the end, but everything else was godawful. I laughed out loud multiple times, especially at the ending. Could be fun in the right mindset if you're into that kind of stuff. Mickey Rourke and Lou Diamond Phillips are in it. Samm Levine has a good 3 minute scene.
I’ve been on a big Motern Media kick the last few months. Don’t Let the Riverbeast and Local Legends have been my favorites so far but they’ve all both worth watching besides Boston Johnny which I found a bit grating. Extremely DIY low budget movies with genuinely hilarious writing and family/friends as the cast. I can’t say enough good things about them. I’d probably recommend starting with Riverbeast or Metal Detector Maniac and then moving onto the autobiographical (but no less hysterical) Local Legends for a better idea of what Matt Farley’s all about.
I watched Polyester a few weeks ago and really liked it, and Serial Mom before that, which was solid. Favorite Waters movies are Female Trouble (this one is my favorite by a good margin) and Pink Flamingos. I want to watch Desperate Living and Multiple Maniacs soon but I know I really have to brace myself for those two.
I have to think Red Rooms will become a cult classic (if it’s not slrewdy) so that’s my recommendation to this thread
Haven’t seen any John Waters up to this point but gonna be watching Serial Mom at our local bar’s movie club next month. Excited to check out his stuff
