I miss when the exchange rate was good and I could take advantage of the B&N sales. So much of my initial collection was built during those sales. I remember being on a trip to like Buffalo or something during one of them and came home with like 20+ discs lol
I’ve found a few Criterions in thrift stores over the years and that is the true dream. This is the year of finally buying some that I’ve been meaning to for like a decade and getting a few that I already own in lesser formats. I somehow missed that Being There was released so I cannot wait to watch the special features. I also preordered Sex, Lies, and Videotape which I’m so glad I didn’t do the other week.
eliminate two of the bunch pls: virgin suicides royal tenenbaums thief sex lies and videotape big chill american friend blood simple edit: nevermind. got VS, RT, thief, SLV and TAF
I love The Big Chill so much. That’s one I had no idea had been released and I can’t decide if I should splurge or not.
I am cry. Now the question is do I wait for the next sale and risk it selling out or preorder it at full price?
I mean I’m gonna wait. That’s a huge savings, and it’s not like you can’t watch the movies now. I think he has a lot on Filmstruck.
It’s like $6 a movie, and that’s if you don’t get it during the sales. Fanny and Alexander by itself is $60 at full price.
Not sure if it was mentioned, but it looks like they changed the cover art to The Tree of Life, thank god. Edit: nvm! I see it up top
Picked up The Brood and Repo Man this past weekend, have never seen either and am very excited to watch both!
Stalker and Tokyo Story significantly altered my perception of what is possible in film. I never saw A Brighter Summer Day but I need to eventually; Yi Yi was incredible.
Ordered Female Trouble immediately after watching it on Filmstruck last night. What a riot. Divine was amazing, and the “car accident” scene was one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen. I don’t know if it’s the conviction of the actors or the utter absurdity of it all, but John Waters got me to laugh at some prettttty terrible shit.
i just got filmstruck! anybody have some must watch movies? i’ve seen Badlands, Before Sunrise, and Being There so far. Before Sunrise is my favorite of the three
