Nice. I've been meaning to re-watch Tree of Life. Terrence Malick’s ‘Tree of Life’ Gets Longer Criterion Version
The Tree of Life is one of the greatest films of all time, so this is simultaneously exciting and concerning. Sean Penn was always vocal about how he wished more of his sequences were in the film, but it seems like that would be too much of an explanation. It works because we get a glimpse of him, like a ghost in his own reality.
Probably mine too. Very excited to check this out. Really wish Voyage of Time would get a Blu-ray release
I plan on going through the list today actually and watching whatever trailers I can find Not in competition, but likely my most anticipated as of now Movie - Climax (Gaspar Noé, 2018)
Obviously I'm interested in watching all the big ones, but my two biggest anticipated are Hirokazu Koreeda's Shoplifters (After the Storm kind of wrecked me) and Jia Zhangke's new film.
Competition: Ash is Purest White The Image Book Burning Asako I & II Knife + Heart UCR: Long Day’s Journey Into Night In My Room Donbass Girl But I’m extremely eager to see pretty much all comp titles and quite a few others.
That cover for Tree of Life is so bad it makes me not want to buy it and it's one of my favorite movies of all time.
I like the idea of Chastain being the centerpiece but yeah, it sort of looks like it was just thrown together which is out of character for a Criterion release
I was meant to go to a screening of Memories of Underdevelopment last month but didn't make it. Glad to get the chance to see the restoration so soon after.
I just read a write-up for Mishima: A Life In Four Chapters and it looks gorgeous and super interesting. Has anyone watched it?
End up ordering a bunch of stuff this week. Gonna watch a bunch. Lady Snowblood Lone Wolf/Cub Zatoichi House Mishima Lady Snowblood is fucking awesome so far. I can see where Tarintino came up with The Bride based off this. Absolutely love it.
Grabbed Mishima and Baal yesterday, first ones I've picked up in a bit. Really excited for Manila in the Claws of Light soon.
Uh oh I bought too many on the first day of the B&N sale. My wallet is crying. Also I still really need to get Filmstruck, but it seems that they don't have a few I was counting on.
