I fear the discs will be in sleeves though, like I'm pretty sure the Godzilla set is. If so, no bueno
I think I have all of Kubrick but will have to check... don't think I will double dip for this one as I rarely re-watch. But I'm sure it will be a great set. And yes based on the picture they are in book sleeves. Hard to see but it does show a disc in a sleeve on the left page.
it'd bee a little bit different if the sleeves had some sort of protective wax lining instead of just sitting flush against the paper (i wanna say the CC40 boxset might've done this?), but even with it, you could still risk scratching or snapping the discs if not handled carefully, and who knows just how much they'd jostle around in transit? something like the Wes Anderson set, or even a box containing individual, multi-disc Scanavo cases (the ones Criterion generally uses), would be better than risking damage for a set so expensive.
it's definitely happening. Universal and Criterion just finished a 4K restoration approved by Lynch's estate
Got the confirmation emails that the nearest B&N has my copies of Hairspray and Desperate Living ready for pick up, let’s GGGGGGGOOOOOOO
Also picked up Days of Heaven on 4K when I picked up my order, been meaning to get that for some time
Finally added Isle of Dogs to my Anderson collection. Also got Wall-E, Princess Bride, and Shape of Water.
Think I'm going to try for Cure, Don't Look Now, Defending Your Life, and Cat People. Depends on what's available in-store.
Of course I went and they only had Don't Look Now of these four (I'm going to order Defending Your Life online), but I ditched my original plan anyways and left with Sorcerer, A History of Violence, and Werckmeister Harmonies (which I have not seen).
