Sale is live. Got my order in already, no blind buys this time around. Thought about throwing in Céline and Julie Go Boating as a treat but I showed a little restraint. Killers of the Flower Moon Birth Network Night Moves Desert Hearts My Darling Clementine
Missed my tax return by a day so I just got a few things: Killers of the Flower Moon Network House Party Was pleased by how simple it was, last year was a nightmare for me to get through the site during the sale
Definitely gonna set some money aside for the B&N sale in the summer, that’s typically when I buy the most titles out of the year. Plus there’s just so much good stuff that’ll be coming out by that point in June/July l.
since one of my credits was set to expire a few days ago, i spent both of them on Videodrome 4K before the sale. gonna hold off on anything today since there's nothing i urgently need (not to mention saving for my move next month).
Would really love to grab Carnival of Souls, Cat People, Cure, and Altered States. Might have to settle for CoS now. That Godzilla boxset being marked down to $112...phew
will probably wait for the barnes and noble sale to grab some of the newer titles that just released thinking about grabbing Still Walking, Certified Copy, and something else today
My buddy reminded me that I said I’d get him a copy of Killers of the Flower Moon since I have a Criterion account and he doesn’t (not sure why since he has vastly more titles in the collection than I but I digress) so I made another order and since I was already there, I also grabbed No Country For Old Men since I still haven’t picked that up.
$8 shipping on a single-disc blu-ray :( I will give them the extra $2 to avoid ordering from Amazon but come on, man
Videodrome showed up. both discs have the lightest of surface-level, non-radial scratches. it should probably play fine (i have other discs that play fine in somewhat worse condition), but i'm gonna scan through both of them in a couple hours to make sure.
i think the closest i've had to an issue with a Criterion disc is a slight stutter with Lost Highway about halfway through, but i think it's a layer change thing because i can play it normally if i rewind a bit. regardless, good to know.
Looks like I had to replace my Le Cercle Rouge Blu in 2018 based on my emails. Think that is the only time ever.
Film Movement confirmed physical 4k releases of Hou Hsiao-hsien’s ‘A City of Sadness’ and Zhang Yimou’s ‘Raise the Red Lantern’ Being that 1) Criterion was credited for ‘Raise the Red Lantern’ at a recent Shanghai Film festival 2) Film Movement licensed ‘Farewell, My Concubine’ to Criterion, it’s likely that we’ll see both ‘A City of Sadness’ and ‘Raise the Red Lantern’ get Criterion releases.
