Did anyone pick up Godzilla vs Biollante? I really want to watch the bonus features but am not yet sold on buying a film that will inevitably be part of a larger set in the future
Definitely going to be grabbing Godzilla vs Biollante. And maybe I'll finally pull the trigger on the Demy set.
Picked up up in the sale: Farewell My Concubine A Face In The Crowd The Night Porter The Damned I also, fighting a crashing website and varying internet connections waiting in line at Space Mountain, ended up doing two additional identical orders by mistake. They cancelled one of them, the other I’ll just give to my Criterion collecting homie.
Grabbed 4K upgrades of Punch Drunk Love and Yojimbo/Sanjuro. Plus No Country and Jo Jo Dancer. First Criterion's I've bought in probably 2 years or more. Still had a $10 coupon in my email from December 2023 and it was still active. Woot. EDIT: Just looked, last order OCTOBER 17, 2023.
I’ve been lowkey on some recent sales. I had $60 in credits this go around though I snagged a pretty big haul: The Wages of Fear (upgrading my blu) Repo Man Branded to Kill Paper Moon I Am Cuba Mean Streets No Country for Old Men Evil Does Not Exist Babette’s Feast Eastern Condors
Rumors of a Fire Walk With Me 4k coming November? Think I am going to be financially responsible today, was close to dropping like 300 lol.
Evidently I was sitting on some gift cards so my usual limit of 3 got changed to 2 + the Akerman box set
I was hoping for Taipei Story, but noticed it’s only available in a collection. Ended up buying a Korean BD.
Had $10 credit which I used on Something Wild. That then earned me a $50 credit, which I used on The Last Waltz, Gummo, and The Royal Tenenbaums. Spent like $35 total.
Chilly Scenes of Winter is leaving April 30th, I strongly suggest everyone checks it out. Crossing Delancey is as well, I might do that tonight.
caught a few minutes of Crossing Delancey a few years ago on TCM. definitely need to revisit it in the future.
Watched both last month. I’d say Chilly Scenes of Winter is more “my thing”, it’s one of those disturbing movies that kind of wrong foots you with perspective. Loved it. Crossing Delaney also very good, could see people adoring that movie.
the code MOVIEFRIENDS gets you a one month free subscription to the Criterion Channel, if anyone wants to check it out.
just got a $25 gift card for being a Charter subscriber. that takes my total in unused gift cards to $55 (although now they're putting expiration dates on some of them). might fuck around and pick up a few things.
