unrelated note: do we know if David ever completed a restoration of Wild at Heart the way he did his other films?

 

Sadly the Straight Story is technically owned by Disney so I don’t know if that’ll get a stateside release will be coming any time soon.

I found a German 4K disc it’ll be here next week, hoping it’s good.

i used to think that was the case, but given Criterion's WALL-E release, the fact that they streamed The Straight Story on the Criterion Channel several months ago (sporting a Walt Disney Pictures Presents title card), and a supposed strengthened relationship between Criterion and Disney for other 20th Century titles, i'm sure it'll be released stateside. it's just a matter of when.

i have considered the German disc though. might look into acquiring a copy if nothing changes.

 

Decided I was gonna dive into the international stuff on the Channel, I realized much of my collection is of American titles and I wanna change that and be more diverse in my picks.

 

“That’s real director master shit” got me.

 

Ordered a copy of Demon Pond after that, I had my eye on it and if one of my favorite modern directors tells me it’s good, then I’m gonna get it.
