Awesome month. I actually just watched Daisies like a month ago. Cool movie. Not exactly to my taste, but clearly an important film. I have the WKW boxset so I’ll forgo the 4K of In the Mood for Love, but I’ll probably buy everything else.
I'm going to watch Malcolm X on Sunday, I've been wanting to watch it but know I need a full day to do it since it's 3h 20m.
The Criterion Channel would be my most used streaming service if it was just available on more devices. Does not work on either of my tvs and of course no PS5 support
Give. Me. The. Godzilla. Heisei. Set. I know Janus Films has been getting distribution for the films. Just release the box already.
I love how he eventually just talks about David Lynch movies and reveals Anthony Hopkins does a great David Lynch impersonation
I’m going to watch a few Ozu films this weekend. Thinking about starting with Tokyo Story, Early Spring, and An Autumn Afternoon Are these 3 good ones to start with? Should I add any others?
Oh, huh. Interesting. My first thought: “If they’re working with Disney on popular flicks now, is a Criterion release of original theatrical Star Wars possible someday?” My second thought: “What will the first Criterion superhero movie be? Hopefully Ang Lee’s Hulk.”
I always thought people were too enthusiastic about that early Pixar rub, but WALL-E mostly earns it.
What's the point of movies that are already really popular and accessible and that have also already been released on blu ray being in the collection?
I imagine some of it is money. WALL-E helps pay for the stuff that isn't going to make a lot of money. Same goes for more popular arthouse stuff like Wes Anderson.
