Haven’t bought any Criterion releases in a while because $$$, but the timing was right for me to grab In the Mood for Love, House, Parasite, and All That Jazz.
I'm going to grab Raging Bull next week when it comes out, as well as Revanche at a different B&N that didn't have it. This is what I'm trying to check out before the sale ends: https://letterboxd.com/landondefever/list/criterion-watchlist-07-22/
Got Crash and Thief today with The Worst Person in the World and Citizen Kane 4K coming in a few days.
Picked up The Worst Person In The World, Menace II Society 4K, Mulholland Dr 4K, and Crash. Saw that Arrow titles were also 50% off and went with the 12 Monkeys 4K
Worst Person in the World is sold out at every BN within 100 miles of me. I like going in to the store so I refuse to order it lol. Hopefully they all get another shipment before the month is over.
Here’s my haul for the month. Pretty certain I’m done until the October flash sale, but maybe a preorder this weekend if something great gets announced. idk why it’s sideways
Imo when it comes to collecting, sometimes you gotta shake hands with the devil and that’s how I feel about using Amazon for a movie. I’ve gotten plenty of great deals on movies but I’m def feeding an evil machine every time.
I'm watching through the films in the Marlon Riggs set, and God, these are awesome so far. Definitely grabbing the box set at some point before the end of the month.
Just saw the restoration a couple of nights ago. Incredible stuff. though I’m surprised it’s coming before Inland Empire (unless we are getting both back to back on the spine)
Picked up the UHD copies of Menace II Society and Raging Bull yesterday, been wanting them for a minute. Kinda surprised but kinda not at how many copies of Pink Flamingos there was still available at the B&N.
At this point I think everything he’s done except maybe Dune and The Straight Story are a lock. Dune because it’s just ok and The Straight Story because Disney.
Incredible month for October Lost Highway 4K Night of the Living Dead 4K Cure Arsenic and Old Lace Eve’s Bayou La Llorona
Cure and Eve’s Bayou both look fantastic, wild they’re putting out a 4K NOTLD when the Blu Ray alone already look astonishing.
Cure and Lost Highway are day one buys for me (I’ll probably wait for the flash sale though), 2 of the best films of the 90’s, both beguiling in their own way. I think Cure is the closest any movie has ever come to replicating the feeling I had the first time I saw The Shining. Really excited to check out the other 3 that I haven’t seen. I heard quite a bit about La Llorona during the pandemic, a lot of people I trust thought it was the best horror movie of that year (I think it hit the states in 2020).
November drop. Looks like I’ll finally pick up ‘in the mood for love’ (4K, baby) Internal Affairs trilogy as well
