In Florida we have the Skunk Ape. Like Bigfoot, but he has a white stripe and he stinks.

That's just Ron DeSantis, the white stripe is from where the spray tan booth missed the middle of his back

I've heard a couple stories of people seeing them while driving out in the desert and experiencing lost time.

For almost 40 years Clearwater Beach had it's own cryptid. A giant penguin. There were tracks on the beach and everything. It wasn't until the 1980's when the guys who faked it in the 1940's came forward and admitted it was an elaborate gag

  13. Erie has an unexplained Blue Book UFO case where visitors saw a strange craft land on the beach and a tall, gorilla-like creature next to it. That's a fun one.

Funniest thing about the donkey lady was apparently she had a phone because there was a number you could call and you would just hear these donkey noises on the other end when it would answer

I just checked my posts in this thread and it doesn’t look like I ever shared any of mine, which is weird because I thought I had, so I will try to do that tomorrow.

Incidentally, I just remembered I typed up one of the stories to a friend a couple months ago, so I’ll just copy and paste:

So, growing up, my oldest sister used to say the house was haunted. I specifically remember her saying this once when she was graduating college and I was set to move from my old bedroom into hers, a move whose reason I don’t remember, because she warned me that her room had it especially bad. I always assumed she was fucking with me - I had no reason to suspect she wasn’t. For the longest time the only weird thing that happened was that once in the middle of the night I woke up feeling weird vibes and my childhood cat Frank was upright on my bed staring at the closet, and then she jumped off and ran out. My sister used to say there was something that would stand in front of the closet, something she never saw but could feel.

One time in college, I was home for the weekend and I was in the kitchen eating a snack before I went upstairs to bed. It was well after midnight. Out of nowhere, I had a thought that just said “there’s a little kid watching you from the dining room,” and so I turn to check and of course it’s empty. Then I turn in the other direction, and I see my cat (not Frank) is completely frozen and staring past me into the dining room, and then suddenly she turns and runs and hides behind the living room couch, a spot I had NEVER seen her in. This made me even more scared, so I decided it was bedtime and ran upstairs. I closed my door, locked it; I had another intrusive thought: “it followed me, it’s going to try to get in,” and suddenly I hear a few knocks on my wall - the other side of which are the stairs. At that point I’m so horrified that I jumped in bed, kept the lights on, covered myself with my blankets, and somehow fell right to sleep which is always the most baffling part of this to me whenever I tell it.

Years go by. Visited a few times, nothing unusual happens. Eventually [my ex] and I start dating, and when it’s her time to meet my parents, I tell her all of the above. She thinks nothing of it, laughs, whatever.

Our first night there, we’re in the basement, sleeping on the pull-out (ayooo) couch. She’s between me and the wall, and to my right is just the rest of the basement. When we first got there, we noticed that the basement had a weird meat-like smell - very gross, very odd, my parents had no idea what we were talking about. The mini fridge they have down there was also making some creepy-ass noises. Anyway, I start feeling uncomfortable pretty quickly, and I ask [ex] if we can switch places. She was annoyed because she suspected I was getting scared of something, but she agreed to switch. Probably 20 minutes later, she bolts upright and says my name pretty loudly, sounding horrified. She asks to turn the lights on, and tells me that something very loudly whispered “PSST” into her right ear (facing the rest of the basement). We’d been dating for a relatively long time by then and it was the only time I’ve ever seen her scared, and it’s still the only time I’ve seen her scared. We ended up turning the TV on and literally stayed up The. Entire. Night.

We mentioned it to my mom the next morning. I don’t think we told her the whole story, but she got very defensive at the implication that the house was haunted, which I believe she has gotten weirdly defensive about in the past, too, so it’s why the lightbulb story I mentioned last week was so funny to me (that she kept insisting the lighting in my room was fine even though it was very clear that it was not).

Edit: the lightbulb thing was nothing interesting - I visited my family back in November and when I went into my old room the overhead light was extremely dim and my dad and I wee trying to figure out why while for some reason my mom kept saying it seemed okay to her lol

I have a couple other stories I’ll share another time. They’re much shorter and less interesting but still kinda spooky imo.

    Hell yeah. Thanks for sharing.

From hearing a ton of these stories, the falling asleep easily afterwards thing is pretty common. It kind of plays into the whole paranormal apathy.

Like you might see something that changes your whole worldview, but you still have to go to work the next day and shit. I also think trying to process what happened is mentally taxing and your brain just needs to shut down.

Also would make sense if these type experiences turn out to be more physic than actually physical which a lot of people think.
