The Creator (Gareth Edwards; September 29, 2023) Movie • Page 3

  1. Ok, so the film actually has two cinematographers? It sounds like Fraser prepped the whole thing but left to work on the Dune movies and handed this movie off to a protégé of his, Oren Soffer.

I barely go to the movies but might try to catch a showing of this over the weekend. Looks like the theaters near me so far have sold virtually zero tickets so i'll be one of the few there.

I mean, that has been the knock on Edwards, so I wouldn't be shocked. Both Godzilla and Rogue One were criticized for having weak characters. I don't think Monsters has that same weakness. I'm still very much looking forward to this though.

Nah it's not the "his humans are hollow" stuff, it's the weird "he just wants a free Tesla", "ip peddler", and "you're gonna watch this movie on shitty DCP" stuff, I hate read Film Stage at this point because they always make weirdly hostile comments like that

Ahh gotcha. That's my bad, I did the classic read the headline but don't click thing. After your quote, I read the first paragraph and it was pretty insufferable.

Seeing it tonight as well and I don't have any real expectations. I loved Monsters and Rogue One has grown in my estimation since I first saw it. I'm just excited to have an original, non-IP sci fi story to watch.

The problem with using Rogue One in defense of Edwards is that we don’t really know what’s to his credit and which is to the reshoots he wasn’t involved with. I don’t think we know for sure. It sounds like the third act of his was largely redone. And most people tend to agree the second half of the movie is stronger. But even saying that, I truly don’t know who to credit parts I like.

I liked but didn’t love this. Definitely need to see it again. Visually it was amazing but the story was lacking. Also had a weird theater experience. The lights were on the first 10 minutes and a group of people talked loudly throughout most of the movie.

I’d be willing to pay $30 a viewing if theaters actually enforce their rules. Start tossing people out. If these pieces of garbage can’t function in society, they need removed from society.

To be fair, their viewing of the movie would be cut short. For reasons.

This applies to far more than teenagers. It’s honestly adults, in my experience. And it’s way more than just movie theater experiences.

We as a society allow selfish purposeful assholes to do as they please far too often. I don’t know what a real solution is. My posts are obviously hyperbole. It’s not that simple. Cause, teens probably deserve far more chances or opportunities to grow. It would be dumb to actually remove them during the time their brains are still developing. But Doing nothing and letting people be trash is not the way though. My hyperbolic extreme solutions aren’t it, clearly. My summer has been awful for a multitude of reasons and I’d say 90% of it is due to other people’s actions or failure to act. My patience for this type of behavior is severely thin right now. I’ve made some dumb decisions for myself that I won’t blame on anyone else. The past four months have been one issue after the other. It’s been the worst summer of my life, by far. Let me be angry at people I’ll never meet. Nobody is going to listen to me anyway. Is that okay?

My last post 100% serious. I truly wish there was an answer to these types of situations. There’s so many factors to how people get to be the way they are. Honestly, I just think we’re all fucked.

  25. It’s a shame the script was clearly an afterthought because the world design is absolutely killer. I love how real and confident it felt.
