I'm pretty jazzed up for this. Casual fan of them, but all 3 songs have been good. Not sure I like 3 songs on either of their last 2 records... The darker sound suits them
This new album is really good, definitely a more inspired sound for them after PITS. I love How to Be Human but this might be their best since Phoenix.
So happy with my first listen through. This is such a powerful and cohesive album from front to back. Easily some of their best work up there with the Albatross > Vagabonds run. Is this more or less Matthew's solo project now?
Actually really impressed with this album. I love Phoenix, I liked How to be Human but didn’t really go back to it ever, and I think I only listened to Patterns in the Static once and have forgotten it since. So this is the first record of theirs in over a decade that I’ve really been into.
If you live in/around Seattle, they live April 2nd. But I know that doesn’t really answer your question. Been a long time since I’ve seen them live. Not sure they tour much.
Really like this! Didn’t care for the last one at all, and only really loved 4-5 songs from How to Be Human. But this one is solid all the way through!
Re: live band, it's been a while now, last time I saw them was around How to Be Human, but at that point it was all original members. They'd just lost a guitar player, but Matt was playing guitar. I think it had been that way for several years prior. Accordion to Wikipedia, it's the same lineup currently.
I think this may be a close second for AOTY for me after One More Time. Its so enjoyable coming back to month after month.
Yeah, checked discogs after the initial post about it and I guess they had an LP and EP under that name. Weird little bit of history I’ve missed in like 15 years of following this band.
I didn't even know about that and I'm a pretty big fan and used to work with the bassist. I'd love to hear it too if anyone has it.
