Have any of them been in/started others bands?

lol, I remember Plea. They used to come through in their earlier days and play smaller venues with our local bands at the time. My one friend was super into them, and had the hoodie with the vocalist’s face real big on it.

There was a Project 86 album that the one guitarist played on after the band broke up, but even that’s at least a decade ago, I think? I’m so disconnected from that scene now, lol. Listened some to HolyName, that new band spinning out of Sleeping Giant, and it’s cool, but that’s just not my go-to shit anymore.

Lauren Daigle, though? Now that’s the good shit.

On our long road trip today we started listening to a mixtape I made my wife when we first started dating which had FM Static song on it.

made me realize I haven’t heard from Thousand Foot Krutch or FM Static in years. Ton of emo bangers back in the day

FM Static feels like one of those groups that was going to be big and just....never went anywhere. Their first album was such a great time and it was like "Uh oh here's the next Relient K" then they quietly dropped albums and disappeared without ever getting back to that height.

TFK is also kind of interesting. They got big and created a following. Then sort of disappeared? They still tour and sell out, I think. But they seem to be one of those bands like Newsboys that tours in VERY specific markets where they know they'll draw a crowd.

Also, I think Trevor has some brand or something he pushes online. I feel like I looked into what he was up to earlier this year and was pretty put off by it haha.

FM Static was just the two main TFK guys and was always, to me, just a fun side project to them- hence never taking off how you might’ve expected. Not sure they toured much either? TFK was so successful they didn’t need to make FM Static more than an outlet for cheesy pop punk stuff.

While we're talking about Christian post-grunge bands, I miss Day Of Fire.

lol fuck, Day of Fire. Forgot they were a thing. Didn’t they have some kinda connection with Daughtry? Remember them having a pretty decent flame logo, and some of their second(?) album sounding a bit better than you’d think.

I think they were, with Decyfer Down or whatever, the end of me being into that kinda music without a nostalgic thread to pull me in.

    I also enjoyed Decyfer Down.

I don't know about Daughtry, but the lead singer was previously in Full Devil Jacket, and basically disbanded Day Of Fire to go back to them.

Then they put out one new album and afterwards went dark, so who knows what he's up to now.

Did some Googling, Josh Brown did indeed co-write a song for Daughtry's second album.

Oh, I remember his whole story being that he quit his previous band after a drug overdose and finding Jesus. Interesting that he’d go full circle, but that guy from Korn (“Head” or whatever) did the same thing.

Looking into it a lil more, I do remember him being on that Fireflight single. That was a pretty fun band back in the day, lol.

Good memories to FM Static! I agree it only looked like a fun side-project to them, they released 4 albums though. If I had to rank them, my order will be the same as they were released, being their first the most solid and fun to me.

It seems very unlikely to this day, but I'd love to see another EP/album by FM Static. Trevor's voice + pop/punk melodies? I'm totally in.

Seems like Trevor hasn’t been doing much with TFK lately…not sure if the pandemic affected stuff or if he just moved on and produces now.

Yeah, I suppose to a kid at the time (who did know it was a TFK side-project) it was like "oh man this is fun!" and they just seemed to disappear without much word. Felt like they got a fair amount of attention, especially first album. Seems odd they just....stopped it and never mentioned it. Similar to TFK, its kind of just....stagnant without much word from them it feels.
I loved Trevor's voice for the pop-punk. Worked so well. Would be cool for them to do another small EP or something.

Yeah, it seems like TFK might be a side project for Trevor nowadays, assuming he’s still active in the music industry.

    Fight the long defeat.

I don't think I've seen it mentioned here, but Josh Garrels put out a single ("All In All") a few weeks ago, finally providing a little proof of his return from sabbatical! He's been a favorite of mine ever since his album "Home" took root with me a few years ago.

Really stoked to see what else comes of the album he mentioned releasing in the first half of this year (obviously a little behind on that date at this point).

Home is such a wonderful release. Beautiful record. I think the new song is ok but didn’t quite grip me - I think he’s a full album guy so I eagerly await the full project for context.

Good opportunity to support Benjamin Daniel make his next record here via Indiegogo. Album being produced by Asher Petersen again (same as Shelterheart). I, for one, cannot wait for this one.
