I didn't realize they were doing a tour together, definitely will try to catch that. Saw Mike Mains and the Branches several years ago, put on a great show
I feel like every week I'm dropping another "does anybody remember this band?" post but I keep digging through old music and finding gems... Stereo Motion. They were formally Phat Chance (lol) and only put out one album but it was great. It has that classic rock vibe (ala The Elms or Jet). Unfortunately it's hard to find anywhere online so I have to listen to the CD or my old iPod
Looks like 2003, I guess there are a couple songs on Spotify from a Flicker Records sampler. Yeah changing that awful boy band name was a good call
We had Phatfish in the UK who were a Christian band - another awful name! You'd think there would be more available for early 2000s.
I remember that band, I'm pretty sure their album it's from 2003.. They used to be a 'boy band' right? I think I've listened only a couple of songs and yeah, The Elms and a bit of Squad Five-O (without the punk side) reminds me of them. By the way, I'm ok with the "does anybody remember this band?" thing!
+20 years and I still have the rhythm of "I don't want to change the world, I just want to change you mind" in my head.. Anyone listened the album they released last year?
I just rebought Phat Chance on Amazon last week. I loved that album for like....1 week haha. Wanted to upload to Youtube Music so I could stream. Stereo Motion was fine, but when it came out I was already over it. Oh man, the Elms...
I never listened to The Elms, but I remember that they were supposed to be in the movie Saved and pulled out because they disagreed with the content of the film.
Wanted to share a random tidbit re: the OC Supertones and their greatest hits album, Unite: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unite_(The_O.C._Supertones_album) This page correctly points out that they re-recorded a few other old songs from Supertones Strike Back and Chase the Sun (Unite, Supertones Strike Back, and Grounded). It does not, however, point out that they re-recorded the song “Chase The Sun” as well. Which they did. Always thought it was great that the Chase the Sun album got some love with two re-records.
I’ve enjoyed the new album, but possibly prefer the debut. Incidentally, nice little fact: Timbre who played on mewithoutYou, OBROTHER and many other records, plays harp on two of the tracks on the new Lauren Daigle. I’m a huge fan of her work. No idea how people learn to play the harp - it looks complicated.
found myself going down a rabbit hole of early 2000’s Christian numetal this week which inevitably led me to the Extreme Days soundtrack. and here i am tonight watching TRUTHSOULARMOR’s youtube upload of the movie (a few songs cut out probably due to rights issues :/) anyway, I don’t think I ever really dug into the soundtrack much, never realized there was a Brown era P.O.D. track on there, or that Fold Zandura’s King Planet was the one stuck in my head for most of 2003.
I’m very late to this conversation, but I LOVED “Ghost” by Stereo Motion back in the day. Listened to it constantly.
Y'all, the new Former Ruins album is one of the best albums of the year. Christian or otherwise. Check it. RIYL: The National, Nick Cave, The War on Drugs, mewithoutYou
