If folks haven’t listened to Last Tuesday before, they were one of my favorite early 2000s pop punk bands. They went to my wife’s college and played there all the time. They were signed to Mono vs. Stereo when Deas Vail was.
Heck yes! Their second album was awesome as well. I remember disliking Terminal when it came out. Like a lot. Blind bought it, hated it, and tried to return it. Going back now I find it VERY hard to finish the album. I like the songs, but find the album tough to make it through.
Saw someone posted a track from it earlier so I want to echo how awesome The Wedding's Polarity is. Such a fun record.
After some digging I found a pleasant surprise, the lead singer Matthew Shelton from The Wedding just released a new album last year with his new band Panther City Riots. Very much in the same vein of The Wedding :)
Maybe this would be a better post for the vinyl thread but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Project 86’s Drawing Black Lines vinyl preorders here: Drawing Black Lines 20th Anniversary, by Project 86
Really wish Sanctus Real kept the bite that made them so good in the beginning. Their new stuff is so forgettable. Say It Loud was so good...
I still listen to that album from time to time, really solid front to back. After Today is such a great closing track, plus the hidden "metal" song lol
Same, it just had a nice sound too. Like it felt sort of unique or at least fresh. I think they fall into so many Christian groups, where almost everyone leaves and it becomes a shell for the label to make money off the name.
JesusFreakHideout put their 2021 year-end list together a couple weeks ago and included Chase Tremaine and I in their overall top 10. Huge honor. Some really good underrated stuff on each of the staff lists. Zane Vickery, Idle Threat, Taylor Leonhardt, Glowing Moses, The Arcadian Wild among others... JesusfreakHideout.com 2021 Staff Picks
In this instance, I'm pretty sure only the singer left, but it made a pretty big impact on their sound.
Oh ya, you're right! Wow, it really is the original drummer and guitarist. The singer must have been the main song writer.
Pretty cool that a Marvel lead used to attend Cornerstone back in the day We Need to Talk About Oscar Isaac's Christian Ska Band - RELEVANT
I had no idea that this was on the horizon! I wonder if they sent it to those that pledged on the crowdfunder, haha!
Got my cassette of Ronnie Martin's (Joy Electric) new album. It's absolutely lovely and what I needed.
Albums I've been loving recently: This one was on my EOTY list last year. Really excellent mix of folk and rock, really encouraging themes, subversively hopeful. A friend told me about this Seattle band years ago but suddenly I've been listening to it all the time. RIYL: The Shouting Matches, Alabama Shakes, no click and no autotune And definitely the new Ronnie Martin album!
Secret and Whisper are reuniting and putting out new material! https://www.facebook.com/secretandwhisper/posts/485700726256476
Holy shit this could be huge. Easily one of the biggest what if bands I've ever heard in this genre. This has soooo much hype.
i don't see where they necessarily say new music, but i'd take a reunion tour/pressing of the old albums.
