first one that’s completely original. other albums have had original songs. also the first one written explicitly for an album. even the originals on Becoming... were originally written to be played at Mars Hill.
Becoming has mostly original songs, I believe but it isn’t completely original. And I believe everything released before that were new renditions of hymns and other music.
"Beat in His face; tear the skin of His back. Lower Still. Strip off His clothes; make Him crawl through the streets. Lower Still. Hang Him like meat on a criminal’s tree. Lower Still! Bury His corpse in the earth like a seed. Lower Still! Lower Still, Lower Still, Lower Still, Lower Still..." - My Epic
I just listened to new My Epic followed by new Andrew Peterson last night. Do you guys have any idea how that makes me feel???
I still need to check out their previous albums. Which is your fav again? I heard Vol. 1 just now and it's fantastic! Gonna go ahead and play all the Letters. I'm on Vol.2 and it's sounding real good too.
My personal favourites are Yet and Broken Voice but I know some people love Behold on the same level. Honestly, you can’t go wrong with any of them. They have a new EP called Ultraviolet out today too (not heard it yet but over in the thread there are very positive reactions!)
It really is incredible. I need to listen more but first listen last night it’s immediately one of my favorite things he’s done. Behold is a top 5 album of all-time for me. So reverent and it’s a great mixture of soft and heavy. But all of their stuff owns. I just got Broken Voice on vinyl and it sounds positively wonderful.
“The earth explodes, she cannot hold Him. And all therein is placed beneath Him. And death itself no longer reigns, it cannot keep the ones He gave Himself to save. And as the universe shatters, the darkness dissolves, He alone will be honored, we will bathe in his splendor...” - My Epic Happy Easter everyone - hope you enjoy celebrating the resurrection life today!
Slept a little bit on the favorite Easter songs discussion, but I listened to Thrice's "Disarmed" this morning. More about death, generally, than Christ's resurrection, but a great piece of writing.
I always forget this thread exists, but outside of a few select worship albums, I don't listen to much in the Christian music arena.
Heard it on Easter and wow. When it got to His Eyes I wasn't ready.. Went from listening to almost bawling real quick haha. Really unique album, enjoyed my first listen more than I was expecting. Yeah I've only heard from Behold till now, but I'll play those two when I get a chance. Listening to Lower Still since you posted the lyrics and it's pretty cool.
It's such a monumental album. His Eyes is an incredible song and really well put together. Glad you're enjoying Lower Still too - the lyrics for that song are brilliant (and very seasonal!)
I'll give you a firm digital handshake and all of my goodwill for it. But for real I don't know what it's worth now that it's been repressed. It used to go for a decent of money when it popped up on eBay.
One is hand numbered, the other is I dunno. Need to pull them out and look, I think both are from the smlxl site. One was probably the first version, then I rebought for hand numbered. No idea, I'll probably sell whichever is worth more haha.
Ah, there is an original pressing from when the album was originally released. Doesn’t sound like it’s that one.
Great news everyone... I've had Resurrection Letters, Vol1 in the background whilst I've been at work this morning (empty office today!) and I'm enjoying it! I know @Lucas27 is going to be really pleased!
Hey friend! I just wanted to give you an update that we recorded our episode with Aaron Sprinkle! I'll let you know when it's published in a few weeks. In the meantime, this week and next week's episodes are both on Underoath
